This guy is outta his mind!

I have no clue who the guy is. I don't think it's worth $30K by any means, but I'd like someone to show me an ad from any source they can find for a car like that for $10K or less, that's in sound physical and mechanical condition with 5K on it. Then I'll be glad to :Zip2: . So if you sell your Cobra, it's worth what, a couple thousand? Maybe not even that?

That makes as much sense as saying the the originial car is worth less than $10k.

Here's a comparable for you. All of the other completed auctions on eBay for 96-98 Cobras were between $4000 and $10,000 and were for cars that are either high mileage or were highly modified. "Stock" and low miles are where the dollars are at in the Mustang world. Is that car worth $30k? Maybe to one or two people in the country and certainly not on Craigslist, but is it worth under $10,000? Puh-leeze. What does a new V-6 Mustang sell for? Which would you rather drive for the same amount of money?

Thank you. Someone that undestands what I'm saying. All he did was go to his KBB bible and spit out a good condition, low mileage, '96 Cobra price. Well, if you do that for that car, then do the same thing for your own car. I could'nt care less if you have a wild paint job and 20K in mods under the hood. All he did was look up a number and that's it. After all, that's what the bank looks at.

I thought I would throw this link in here just to compare a 12 year old collector car with low miles and low production (?) to a car with really low production numbers, 4 years old, and the only American car that actually holds its value once its driven off the lot.

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/623493171.html

Sure it has 12,xxx miles on it for being a 4 year old car, but the 03-04 Cobra is the only Cobra that's worth anything close to 30k. With the exception of the 2000 Cobra R. I don't even think the 93 Cobras bring in that kind of coin, no matter how many miles or numbers built. So, the guy asking for 30k for a 96 Cobra is the one puffing the weed.

People paying close to 30K for an '03/04 Cobra are puffing good weed, too. I guess it's worth that if they're willing to pay, but the fact that they are is mind boggling. To each their own...

To each, or to the large quantities of them being sold for mid 20's and higher?

I havent seen one for less than 23-24 in months.

Here's a reality check for the guy selling the 96 Cobra.

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/622472196.html

How is that a reality check? That Cobra has 10 times the mileage. OK, the guy said less than 50K miles, so 49,990 miles. That guy wants $17K. That's still a hell of alot more than $9,900 that some people are saying a low mileage Cobra is worth. So the guy with the '96 Cobra is looking even better. He can probably reasonably get over $20K for his with only 5K miles if the guy with the '98 could get $17K. I'm not saying either Cobra owner will get what their asking, but that shows the KBB is pure nonsense.

I am always surprised and disappointed when I am on a car enthusiast site and see people bashing others trying to sell their car or parts for more then what they feel the value is. I know that we all want to find the great deals, sure I would buy a 03/04 Cobra for 10k is I found one. If someone asked me for my advice on the price though I would not tell them that they could never get more then 12k for their car just in hopes of scoring a deal.
Being in the Mustang hobby we need to try and protect the values of our investments. If someone wants a 96-98 Cobra for under 9k they are out there, for those that want a very nice somewhat collectable car of this era it is becoming harder to find. Will this guy get 30k for his car? I don't think so and it is more then I would be willing to pay if I were in the market for such a car. If I knew of somebody looking for a car like this, I would point this out to them and maybe suggest the price is a "little" high but let them make the decision to how much it is worth to them.

:SNSign:

oh well, no harm no fowl. Wish you all the best of luck with your cars. Hope the guy gets what he is asking for. /nuff said!

Thanks to Barrett-Jackson, anyone who can squeeze hard enough to pop out a turd with wheels thinks they have something worth way too much money!

I need to finish the interior of my car, so I'm off to fiber over-load and see if I can't pinch off a money making classic to sell! :D

I happened to find a website that actually had the msrp of the 96 Cobra when it was brand new, and the price back in the day was only 26k. The article had specs on the car as well, which the hp on the 96 Cobra was only 305. That's what the 01 Bullitt has, and the new GTs are rated at 300 hp, and they don't cost 30k.
