ported Gt40 heads on a basically stock 302?

GT-40 heads have 3 bars on the front/back of the head, GT-40Ps have 4 bars. GT-40Ps flow better but have a weird spark plug angle, which vastly limits the header choices.

You may also have to drill steam holes if your block has them.

GT40/GT40Ps are a nice upgrade for the buck.

Here are the 3 bars you are looking for.

The "P" heads also have a "P" cast in the lower front corner of the passenger side head (if they happen to be bolted on a motor when you check) next to the valve cover rail. The spark plugs stick out nearly at a 90 degree angle to the head.

yeah theyre gt40s not gt40ps. straight bolt on then? nothing weird like needing different size pushrods? they have 1.7 rockers anygood?

Well that all depends if the heads were milled previously, but you should still be ok with the stock length. But I would check them first, just to be on the safe side, but it is nothing a $15 shim kit can't fit :). About the rockers, I would stay with 1.6, but that is my opinion :). I assume the 1.7's are roller, if so, then it will be a nice improvement over the regular junks. But always check the clearances first, don't let anyone tell you different, cause all motors are different.
