Made a few phone calls today and got some prices . PA area.

The place I like the most said $720 for gear install , thats gear oil , gear kit , FRPP 4.10 gears and labor !

SCT 3 Tuner for $ 400 .

And I also asked about a Dyno tune that I probably dont really need , that was $ 400 !

So all together that $1520 !

Does that sound pricey , and do I need a Dyno tune yet , only mods I have are in my sig !

A dyno tune wouldnt hurt, but IMO you really dont need it. I'm running nearly identical mods to you, and had a mail order tune loaded onto my X3 at no cost.

See if you cant find someone to help you out with the gears for much cheaper. I had a friend help me with my gears. He did the everything inside, I pulled the axles and such. Did the whole install, with fluid, FRPP 4.10's, rebuild kit and tuner for about $700.

Just FYI, and no I'm not spamming, but go over to americanmuscle.com and it might save you a few bucks. They have a 4.10 gear and tuner kit at a discounted price. Includes oil, but no rebuild kit.

You can get your sct xcal3 from don lasoda at lasota racing for 379.00 shipped and he will give you 3 custom tunes for your car at no extra charge. Way better then the canned tunes it comes with and you can save the $400 on a dyno tune.

that price is way too high.

i got my gears and had the installed for less than $500. the dyno tune is also way high. i paid $225 for my last tune.

you dont even need a tune for a simple gear swap. just buy an xcal and use the preloaded tunes and correct your cars gear ratio

my last gear install was 350 bucks, for gear, oils, labor, and speedcal.

Sounds like they dont like to work or have too much work, cause nobody that is sane would pay that. You can have the rear almost completely built for that.

Sounds like you need to get another shop. Living up north, im sure you have 50 shops within a 1-2 hour drive that are top notch.

$700 is way too high.

You could do it yourself and mess up once and re-do it for less than that.

I paid $300 for my install. That what rebuilding the trac-lok as well as replacing all bearings in the rear end (axle bearings and seals as well).

Thanks everybody for the replys !

I think im going to hold off on the Dyno tune til I have a few more mods !

I can get a SCT X3 for $375 at a few places online and I found on Latemodel Restoration Supply a gear kit .
FRPP 4.10
Master bearing kit
1 bottle of friction modifier
2 bottles of Royal Purple gear oil , for $260 and I found a clean performance shop to do the install for $300

Thats $935 total . thats maybe the best im going to get , the biggest fear I have is finding a good shop to do the work , I dont want to go crazy finding the cheapest place and get what I paid for !
