any one do a v mount setup

i was wondering if any one has done a custom v mount setup with there radiator and inter cooler. me and my buddy are working on a 84 rs turbo capri and it seems to be the best fit with the capri front bumper. the only problem iam having is finding a radiator thats 14 inches from the bottom of the core to the top of the radiator.

your probably asking why would you want to v mount it. well both the inter cooler and radiator both get fresh air instead of the inter cooler warming the air before it gets to radiator. we wont have to worry about pluming the inter cooler pipes. plus many more reason's.
i just wanted to know if any one else has done a v mount setup in a mustang/capri?

Are you talking about mounting the the radiator at a different angle from the intercooler? I'm not following you otherwise.

Personally I bet its not going to make a difference for any extra hassle. If your intercooler is getting "that hot" you need to reevalute the turbo you're running.

I never really understood the deal with V-mounts. Wouldn't you really reduce airflow through both the radiator AND intercooler by mounting them at such a sharp angle?

Thats all well and good for cars that run hot. Its just not needed in a 2.3T car.

As for the comment that Stinger's kit is not aimed at performance??? There's some cars aking serious power and running great times with that kit.

Your math makes me laugh. If you truly want to know how much lag "x" amount of tubing will add to a system, you have to use the cubic feet per minute flow rate of the engine compared to the cubic feet of IC tubing , not "12 inches adds 100rpm" equation listed above.

What volume of air is a 2.3 liter engine capable of at full throttle? Lets assume a VE of 75%, and if lag is what we are discussing, we'll use an rpm of 3000 rpm. My calcultions with these assumptions give a volume flow rate of 91 cfm, at 3000 rpm. What are the longest IC pipes you deam reasonable? I will say 10 feet of piping, with an id of 2.5 inches. This is only .34 cubic feet of piping. The fmic adds maybe .4 cubic feet on top of that but that will be for a "long" tubing setup, as well as a v setup so it is not relevant to the calculations. So total we are talking .34 cubic feet max. So at 3000 rpm, it will only take .181 seconds to complete one "air change" in the pipe. In real life you are slowly building boost anyway, not completely filling an empty pipe. This is for a "worst case scenario" with 10 feet of tubing. My kit is only about 8 feet so that is only .145 seconds of lag at 3k rpm. At 6krpm, that figure drops to .081 seconds. These are all "stock" 2.3T numbers. On a 400hp engine, these numbers drop to .084 seconds at 3k rpm and .039 seconds at 6k rpm.

Keep in mind the point is the volume of the pipe and ic is tiny compared to the volume of air the engine consumes, and it is a closed system.

As for trying to shoot down 351wcoupe's "performance". What have you done personally, not your friends with drift cars?

Why you came back with an do they not need an intercooler comment is beyond me. He was saying 2.3's don't run hot so getting "second hand" air after it flows through the IC doesn't effect the coolant temp of the 2.3 engine, only those that have overheating issues to begin with.

geeeez resort to voilence when its the last thing you have going for yourself. Washington state isnt on my way to anywhere but feel free to come to kansas at any point.
