Hi, I am trying to put some new front door speakers in my 87 mustang and i noticed that there is some kinda box thing that splits off power between the dash and door speakers. Im guessing that it is a bass reducer of something for the tweeter in the dash but im not sure... I wired one side up and it works fine, but then i went to the drivers side and noticed that the box is missing. Is it possible to buy aftermarket ones or should i go start looking around the wreckers?

Thanks,:nice:

Its basically a little black box about 3.5" long and 2" wide. There is a positive and negative inlet on one side and on the other there is 2 positive and 2 negative outlets. 1 set of postive and ground wires should go to the door speakers and the other set go to the tweeters in the dash. In my car i only have the passenger side one...:(

Where was this "box" located? It does not sound like a factory part to me. If one side has it and the other doesn't, you will either need to get 2 matching ones, or get rid of the one you have to get the proper sound. If you are just adding coaxial type speakers in the doors then you shouldn't need them at all.

sounds to me that you have a set of component a mid range subwoofer and a tweeter and that box your talking about is a cross over. Thats the ideal route for up front. Unless there just junk/ beat up speakers.
good Luck
