Anybody know of a reputable shop who could install VT Stage 1 cams in my 4.6 2v...other then Anderson Ford???

Probably going to get the cams soon...just looking for someone to do it.

I live in the center of Decatur/Champaign/ Bloomington.

Thanks!!

You no likey AF?

They want like $900 labor. Since they are a ford dealer I think they use Ford maintenance guidelines on how many hours it should take for a swap.

That rate is based upon removal of the cam chain cover, front accessories etc., I know they use the cam chain retention tool and get the job done in a fraction of the time. When I quized them about the time/tool they said "well that is what we charge".

Seems like 400-500 labor would be more realistic for going no deeper than the valve covers. I've seen $300-$500 on other forums etc.

If a shop removes the front cover /accessories then I would consider paying more $$.

Get the FSM, read and review before starting. Ask questions for those who have changed cams.

I would use the Anderson tool if it was me personally. It also wouldn't hurt to slap some assembly lube on the cams and journals as you install them. Clevite makes some good stuff called cam guard: I'd highly recommend using it.

Torqueing in sequence is very important. If you can read and follow directions you'll be set.

Yea, I've heard of Anderson not having the greatrest customer service record too. I was gonna go down to St. Charles to suttonhp and have them do some work for me. Your best bet is to get away from here and go to St. Louis or Chicago if you want a good well know shop to do work for you. For $900 I would buy a book and learn how to do it myself.
