Ok... 94 Mustang GT 5.0, melted my cooling fan motor and it took out the connector too!! Fun fun!. Got the replacement motor and then spent 3 hours hunting around town for a replacement 3 wire connector and finally got lucky at the junkyard.
Now in a rush (which I know is never a good thing) I busted the metal center piece on the fan blade itself. So I know know this wont work. My options right now are to spend another $100 to get the whole fan assembly unless I can get lucky and find one in the junkyard. Does anyone else know of any other vehicles that would have the same cooling fan setup as my car?

Thanks in advance,

Jason

Jason, been there and done that myself. My fan's output shaft seized to the blade's hub. I went with a 3.8L Taurus fan and never looked back. If you have an OEM style radiator, it will require some light fabbing of brackets. Otherwise it flows every bit as much as the stock fan and the electrical connector isnt an issue (it uses a pigtail egressing the pancake motor). The Taurus fan shroud is more square and easier to mount universally IMHO.

Atleast this would be an option for you if you need time to source another 94-95 fan blade. Other fans that should work are ones from the Turbo Volvos, dual Contour fans and dual Intrepid fans. I have a set of the Intrepids but havent ever installed them. THey're a wide but thin design - the ABS pump clearance might be tight (then again, maybe not with an OEM radiator).

As far as sourcing a same fan as yours, I think the V8 Stangs in 94-95 (and possibly early 96) are the only bet. I dont recall seeing other vehicles mentioned in the cooling fan TSB/Recall lists, which suggested to me that our fans are proprietary to our limited run of stangs. FWIW, the V6's have a one speed fan. One of those could work for awhile (if you cant use the fan blade with your old housing/new motor).

Random thoughts.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I kinda figured the fan would be limited to these years and finding one of those at the junkyard is hard enough. And if its been there more than a day... yeah, just not happening.
Looks like Im going to cave and just hit the parts store. The car has pretty much been out of commission for seven months now, its getting warm and I want it back on the road ASAP. :D
