We finally had some nice weather here (60 degrees) so I went up to the track this afternoon with my 07. So far all I have is the C&L Street CAI with the SCT canned 93 octane tune and Steeda LCAs for traction. To say the least, I was extremely happy with the results.

My car has the original lame 3.31 gears and the stock 17" Pirelli tires.

I ran a best of 13.1 @ 107.96 MPH. I ran five times (13.5, 13.4, 13.3, 13.2, 13.1 - not in that order). I have had several Mustangs through the years (5.0s and New Edges) but I have to say that I am extremely impressed how well these S197s run with very few mods. 12s or bust!

I have attempted to attach the scanned image of the best timeslip; I apologize if it didn't work.

Nice!
I believe it was more so the weather conditions as you got a 2.0 60' time and a 5.671 330' time(respectable, but no means great)and was great at the top end! Keep up the good work on reaching the 12s:nice: I recommend(if you're not doing it already)doing a spreadsheet of all your slips and tuner settings/driving tactics to track your progress.

This could be good news for me as I go this Saturday and hopefully get to take advantage of slightly better tires, weight transfer and cool weather:D

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yea, the track conditions were about as good as they could have possibly been. I got there right when they opened; they had just finished prepping the track.

My 60' times were pretty lame, which is why I am so impressed with the ET. Had I had some Nittos or slicks I could have launched harder and may have been able to pull of a 12.99999999. :D

The MPH is what amazes me the most - almost 108 MPH with nothing but a CAI and a canned tune!

In case it helps anyone: I revved it to about 2500 RPM and slipped the clutch off the line to control wheelspin. 1-2 shift at about 6200 RPM, 2-3 shift at about 6500 RPM and went through the traps at around 6400 RPM in 3rd gear.

Has anyone experimented with changing the settings on the SCT X3 yet (global spark, timing, WOT leaner or richer)? I brought my flash device with me, but didn't make any changes since it was running so well.

Thanks in advance for any advice.:SNSign:

Frank,
2 things:
1st off, if your car is a 5spd, didn't it come w/ a 3.55 rear, and not a 3.31?

2nd, I went to the track recently, and bounced off the rev limiter on my 1-2 shift. (I don't have a tune/tuner yet) What do you have yours set at? 6500?
Thanks,
Marc

The only settings I change on my tuner between grouped runs(usually 3 per setting change)are the shift RPMs and shift pressures. I know it made a huge difference last time out when I bumped the shift pressure up from 15% to 25%! I had massive amounts of tire spin going into 2nd and a bit going into 3rd. That resulted in poor 330' times, but helped a ton as I dopped .25 in ET overall:D I will be setting all kinds of different oints again this Saturday and will see if the Nitto NT555s help or not

Very nice times Frank, you give me hope. Last time I went to the track I was dealing with 100* plus weather and the fact that I can't drive. I couldn't even muster a 13.x I'm going again may 9th, and hopefully I can do something with the car.

How are the LCAs overall? I am considering them myself. Any NVH? Huge difference?

Gambi06,

To my knowledge, the 3.55 gears were optional. Mine has 3.31s according to my build sheet and the label on the rear end itself.

You are correct. With the stock tune, you will probably hit the rev limiter. I think the default on the X3 is 6700 or so (?) which is where mine is set. I have yet to hit the rev limiter since I reflashed it. I strongly suggest you get a flash device (Predator, SCT, etc) as the first mod to these cars. The difference in driveability and performance is more than worth the $$.

gashog,

The LCAs made a very noticeable difference (all positive). I didn't notice and NVH issues, but it made the rear end feel more solid and planted all the time. Traction is significantly better with them. When I first installed them I thought my car was down on power because it would barely spin the tires unless I really tried! Wheel hop (which was pretty bad on my car) is totally gone now.

Hope that helps!

Frank

I think I need LCAs then. I have the same setup, GT manual with 3.31, and I can't get traction at all. I don't have horrible wheel hop but it's like driving on ice...

Yeah, that's definitely on the short list. I've already got a C&L street intake, but I have the no-tune insert in, since I've got no tuner. The reason I asked about the 3.31, is because I found that I had to shift into 4th just before the traps with the 3.55s, and I'd rather not, as that's just another chance to increase E.T.'s, so an increase on the rev limiter should cure that.
Does anyone on here who has a 5spd / 3.55's find themselves in 4th before the lights?Just curious...(I don't mean to hijack Frank's thread!)
