You can go online to Ford Vehicles and look at the window sticker for this car, or any other in any dealer's inventory.

This will give you a good idea .on the range of sticker prices, and should show what deals they have.

I found stickers on 08 GT's from 26k up to 36 or so for verts.

That deal is not too bad, and you may work hard to beat it by enough to make it worthwhile.

I would say that sounds like a good price. I would attempt to offer $1000-1500 lower and see what happens but if you really like that car I would go for that considering the options it has. Just from my recent experience if you tell a dealer what you want your monthly payments to be rather than the total price they seem to work a bit harder as far as finding the best bank for the best interest rate so they can come back and hopefully be around your ball park monthly payment goal. I just bought an 08 Durango and said I know you cant sell these things with gas prices etc, I'l buy it today for 330 a mo. They came back and said the best they can do is 497...I laughed and walked out. The next day a manager called and we worked it out to 399 a mo with 1000 down, damn near 100 less a month than their first offer lol. Its funny to see what happens when you walk away from a guy who needs to sell cars for a living.

Haha.. I'm suprised he told you that. I'd offer him as was stated earlier. $1000-1200 lower than hes asking and go from there. If its been at the dealer that long hes going to be happy to see it go no matter what. In the summer of 2006 I got my 2006 GT with the upgrade package, shaker 1000, and 3.55's for $26,400 after some haggling.

look, the only real answer to this question which has not yet been mentioned is to go to edmunds.com and put in all the options on the sitcker and find out the true dealer cost and invoice price - find the holdback and subtract all of the rebates then you will have pretty much close to what he paid for the car; work up from that number - you have to give him a little profit but not too much - he will want to get rid of the car but you are not smart if you do not find out the true cost first.

the dealer telling you that he is only making $200 is prolly BS or that is not counting any dealer hold back. depending on what the current rebates are that may or may not be a great price. How much of that is rebate and how much is that coming off the price? i would say atleast 2,500-3,000 off plus rebates. around me there is 2,500 in rebates so i would say atleast 5k off sticker is the most i would pay.

Edmunds doesn't give you true dealer cost.

The dealers make more than $200 when you use an X-plan pin, and that isn't as low as X-plan pricing. He is feeding you BS. The longer the car is on the lot, the more willing dealers usually are to let it go for less. I'd be surprised if it was really there that long though - it would have been there since around when I bought mine which was in the first batch of 2008's shipped. Cars that nice usually don't last that long!

The dealer is giving you 6% off sticker. You could negotiate that kind of deal with a BMW or MB dealer, and they have the least amount of wiggle room of any mainstream manufacturers.

I looked at my purchase price (take ambient lighting off your MSRP) and based on what I paid for my car with X-plan, no incentives, I wouldn't pay any more than $28k for that car under any circumstances, and even $27,500 is an acheivable price.

Geeeee I think you are getting screwed..............
He is selling you the car with the Rebate included???
I never heard of a 2008 stang gt in any dealers lot for over 200
somewhat days....
If you like the car tell him you will pay invoice ONLY and you also want the Rebate....
If he does not want to do that screw him,,,I am sure there are another 40 ford dealers within 50 miles from you.....
Allll dealers will give you the car at INVOICE and maybe a tad less.......
Just make sure you also get a rebate on top of the invoice price..........

thanks everyone i am going back to the dealer tom.the problem i am having is that i have done a search of about 100 miles and therer are not many vapor clear metalic`s around.i went 2 5 dealers today and each one has maybe 1-3 gts on the lot.also they tell me that the 08 builds have ended and it will take most of the sumer to get an 09

Early Sept you will see 2009 Stang Gt on dealer lots....
But if you will wait till April 2009,you will be able to have a 2010 stang gt with more HP and I am sure it will be sharper....If it is not,,,people will be buying the camaros............And with the price of gas I am sure there will be NOOOOOO markups (Invoice baby}because many less people will be looking at differennt autos to drive.....

I just bought an 08 with all the options you listed exceptgt appearance, ambient lighting, sirius and premiere trim and the sticker was 30,910. I got an x-plan # from blueovalforums and that instantly got the price down to about 28,000. Then 1500 rebate off that = 26500 + tax and tags. This was last month in PA. Hope this helps.
