03 cobra s/c belt tension ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i just put the other metco 100 mm idler on it i had a shorter belt thats new. the ten. is so tight it only got 1/8 of movement after the belts on. i want to make sure it dont slip at the dyno. or i'll be wasting my money. so i got 2x100 mm idlers up top now.

i got a regualr gates belt,,or does the thing the gatorbacks belts grip better?

i still got the stock lower pulley with the 2.75 it will be tuned with.. is 31ft.lbs is enough tension, that checking it in gear with the e brake on with a tq wrench on the s/c bolt it clicks at around 31 lbs.when the belts hot ,then i can see it slip on the crank pulley,, see if that enought ten, if not im going to have to pass maybe on the tune?? i hope im still good

i got a stock tensioner on it btw,

GO CHECK YOURS WHEN YOU GET A CHANCE like i did, most of you got larger lower pulleys , i want to see what lbs everyone starts to slip at , and name your pulley combo , idlers , thanks a bunch

this might not be the way to check it , be just wanted to see where other where at , if its not to much trouble.

So you have 3 - 100MMs and 1 - 92 mm with a 2.76 Dia blower pulley? you are using a metco bracket with one of the 100MM pulleys? I dont know how much the metco bracket needs as far as belt size but that combo with the Billetflow bracket would use the stock size belt. You do still have travel left in your tensioner dont you? It should not be all the way against the stop in either direction. About mid way is best. The tensioner sets the pressure. The bracket and extra idler gives you more wrap and removes the slip through greater contact area not tension. The belt will not slip on the crank pulley. It will slip on the blower pulley.

thanks for the reply i got only 100 mm ider as you can see in this old pic .i had only 1 100mm out at the snub idler, that pulley is a 3.25 ,
i got 2 100mm up top now. so the way i checked it isnt the correct way then? , right now its got about 1/4 from being all the way to the stop . plus the tang that stop the ten. from going any father is broken off its ,whant im trying to say is that the ten. does have a 1/4 inch of travel.
