I'm looking at replacing the leaf springs on my '67. Global West has a 5 leaf spring rated at 150lbs. Grab-a-trac has 4 leafs rated at 165 lbs. Is it possible to have more leafs and have a lower spring rating than a 4 leaf?

I called global west two different times, and on both occassions they said they were rated at 150. I call them again and have them explain why they're rated so low.

I called Global West again and they told me that they are rated at 150 and that they are 5 leaf springs. He said the thickness of the leafs has to do with the rating. Also, it has one long spring used for traction to prevent wheel hop.

Then I wonder how the grab-a-trac can be 165?
I like the GW springs. I have no wheel hop and I test it often :)
It also holds down body roll (with del-alum bushings) nicely without a sway bar.
Maybe someone with the 4-leaf grab-a-trac can give you their experience.

I recommend the Flex-a-Forms. Great ride, no wheel hop, and they look cool too.
