Try pushing the button that selects which side of the tape gets played. I used to have the same sort of problem on my POS chrysler. I guess the cassette thing only puts out a signal on one side and if your tape player reads the other side it throws the error signal.

Yup,did the same thing in my truck,I just went and bought a FM thingy,I tune to a radio station then tune the fm thing to the same station, and I have my mp3.

or it could be broken. I had the same problem- i tried another tape with 2 sides and it still didn't work :(
How do those FM thingys work, and how much do they run for? I heard they're worse than the cassette and have poor quality?

rw...sounds like it isn't seeing the adapter as a valid device. Maybe try cleaning the adapter.

I have one of those FM modulators. It is OK but every now and then you get a lot of static. Mine has 3 presets so I just hit one that clears it up a bit but it never really goes away. This is on the Dynex brand from Best Buy.

well i talked w/a friend to day and he told me to get one of those FM modulators.
he also told me to remove the antena for improoved reception of the modulator,
i said what about the radio he replied who cares you have all your MP3's.
i was thinking of changing my head unit but i think that i would have to change the whole system and i realy don't waunt to do that.

I had the iriver brand, with 3 presets and I never have gotten static.

And if you replace the head unit there is no need to replace the entire system.I have a Kenwood now with built in cross overs and a usb port for using a thumb drive as a mp3 player now.To use an after market head unit with the 460 system all you need is the correct harness to interface with all the factory amps and speakers, since my HU has built in cross overs I get a better sound then using the factory HU.But without cross overs it sounds horrible.

There is one,Its from Metra.I had this HU in my 01 gt then I got the 04 mach and kept my system to put in it,I had to buy another Metra Harness for the 04 model.Bestbuy can order them but I got mine from a local sound shop.Circuit City can get them also, they run about $20.Just call best buy and tell them you need a Wiring Harness to integrate Mach460 amps and speakers with an aftermarket HU for your year model stang...most likely they will have to order it.Hmmm just remembered for some reason best buy said they couldnt order it this last time but I think the guy was new...Circuit City said it wouldnt be a problem.Or try your local sound shop, but they always want more for them.
