Beware of Shopping Carts!

So tonight I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things. After I'm done shopping I run back to my car because it's raining and dark out. I throw the bags in the car and get in and start to turn out of my space. All of a sudden my girlfriend in the passenger seat yells "CART!" Too late... hit a shopping cart some thoughtful person had left right in the middle of the lane. I nailed it hard enough to do some decent damage. It scratched up the drivers side of my front bumper pretty bad and put a fairly deep grape-sized dent in the front driver's side quarter panel right by the headlight.

Moral of the story: be careful when driving around in dark rainy store parking lots at night. :(

Anyone have any ideas what'd it cost to repaint the bumper, remove the dent on the quarter panel and repaint that too? I'm guessing it'll probably be around $600 but I'm not sure.

On the bright side I've been wanting to get the front bumper cover repainted anyway because of numerous little paint chips from rocks and stuff hitting it. Just cost more and have to do it sooner than anticipated I suppose now.

I saw a shopping car in the middle of a lane at Wally World Friday. I feel your pain. Some people just don't care. I especially hate the people who back into spots and leave going the wrong way and look at you like you are going the wrong way.
Many drivers are just stupid.

Go to your dealership and ask for the guy who does the dent repair. I got a decent sized dent taken out of my little car a while back for $75, can't even tell it was there now. They will also do paint touch up for xtra. Just a thought.

That does suck! I also don't care much for the lazy/careless people when it comes to things that are so simple and only take a handful of seconds more to do properly! You wish stuff like that upon those people in return!

FWIW- if the fender needs replacing...

I needed to replace a front fender back around the New Year –damn deer- and ordered one from a place on ebay called The Online Body Shop.

They have aftermarket and OEM parts… had an OEM shipped to the door painted/clear coated for less than my deductible. I had to take this route because of previous insurance claims due to –damn deer- and am very pleased with the product and the finished out come.

People who never saw the damaged fender cannot believe it has been replaced and some of those who saw the before and after still swear I had a body shop do the work.

Something like this isn’t for everyone I know however if you are like me with insurance claims –damn deer- dealers you wouldn't take a pinto to or just happen to be having a tight budget… this might be an alternative for you.
