I plan on gettin a Hi-po (2.8) X-Charger supercharger, Gears, Detriot True Trac, and 20'' Foose Nitrous rims.

At first, my thoughts were that i should get 4.10 gears but after a lot of reading i see a lot of supercharged Stangs with 3.73's. But since i'm geting 20'' rims and taller tires i should probably go with 4.10's

Well I've decided to go with Toyo Proxes S/T 255/40/20 and 275/40/20 which is 28.6 inches tall (rear).

Therefore, according to the tire size and gear ratio chart (posted at the bottom of this post), if i get 4:10s it'll actually feel like 3.88 (Please correct me if i'm wrong) and if i get 3:90s it'll actually feel like 3.71.

Because of this, i'm kinda leaning toward getting 3:90s along with Detroit True Trac. Does anyone have any ideas of why i should go with 4:10s instead? Keep in mind that my Stang is going to be a road warrior with an X-Charger.

Any little feedback will be appreciated!

Here's the cut & paste of 28HopUp's tire size and gear ratio chart:

3.31:1 with 27" tires = 3.3100:1
3.31:1 with 26" tires = 3.4373:1
3.31:1 with 28" tires = 3.1917:1

3.55:1 with 27" tires = 3.5500:1
3.55:1 with 26" tires = 3.6865:1
3.55:1 with 28" tires = 3.4232:1

3.73:1 with 27" tires = 3.7300:1
3.73:1 with 26" tires = 3.8734:1
3.73:1 with 28" tires = 3.5967:1

3.90:1 with 27" tires = 3.9000:1
3.90:1 with 26" tires = 4.0500:1
3.90:1 with 28" tires = 3.7607:1

4.10:1 with 27" tires = 4.1000:1
4.10:1 with 26" tires = 4.2576:1
4.10:1 with 28" tires = 3.9535:1

4.30:1 with 27" tires = 4.3000:1
4.30:1 with 26" tires = 4.4653:1
4.30:1 with 28" tires = 4.1464:1

i've heard the 3.90 gear is noisy for sum reason, doesn't matter which manufacturer it is either.............don't know why, but this is a common problem I've read. Do a little reasearch on the 3.90 ratio b4 you buy? sorry. i have no opinion on the mathamatical stuff etween the height of the tires and how they are, or how they'll feel......errrrr, watever. I've read as well that 4.10's are too much gear in a F/I set-up. my .02

As long as you stay with the taller rear tire, I don't see why the 4.10s should give you any issues with the S/C. I have 28.3" rear tires and with the auto and 4.10s, I can still cruise 80 MPH @ 3000 RPM.

Gotcha! and thanx!

thank god king cash its not a "garage queen"...

well a lot of my friends that run a SC, went back to 3.73's due to the fact they have a SC...on a N/A car w/ stock tires, the first gear is real short, just imagine
with a S/C instant spool of that blower, your rpms will shoot up right away. Good luck... post some pics so we can speed the process of saving our money.:nice:
