I was considering getting a Mongoose Vortech kit for my car. I live in Phoenix and it will be 110 degrees + most of the summer. I drive about 35 miles each way to work (highway) and already have 72k miles on my car.

Any thoughts on reliability for this? I dont plan on taking the car to the track or anything, so I would keep it fairly conservative.

Do a compression test first to make sure the engine is still healthy. If you have compression I say go for it. That heat is going to suck @ss though. I would definitely use an intercooler in that kind of heat.

Yea in that heat any tune is going to absolutely kill timing and dump fuel to prevent pre-detonation. For sure add in a cost of an i/c. During the summer months, I can for sure tell a huge difference how the car is behaving just in our typical 100* weather, but for me I don't care b/c I have the a/c on and will rarely be going over 2500k rpms anyways. Otherwise, 40k miles on my Mongoose kit so far and still going strong (was trapping 114mph few months ago).
