Detailing Supplies

I have purchased from autogeek.net
Klasse All-In-One (Synthetic cleaner wax)

and obsessivedetail.com
Optimum No Rinse (Great car wash)
Light Polish
Wet Wax (Carnauba liquid)

I also pick up stuff at Walmart:
Meguiars Clay Bar kit
Foam glass cleaner
Microfiber towels
Meguiars Tire shine
Mothers protectant

Here's a before and after comparison.

Meguiar's has reasonable prices on-line, and they don't hit you with exorbitant shipping and handling charges.

For products you might use a lot (such as a spray detailer), consider buying in the gallon sizes.

I'm pretty lazy so I use Zaino cuz it's durable as all hell. Very easy to apply/use/remove, fantastic shine, long lasting. Can only get it online at zainostore.com. Looks a bit pricey at first, but I can do the entire mustang or vette w/ one coat using about an ounce of the stuff. Added benefit is that it can be 'layered' to build up some protection. Best bet to start is the 'Zaino Total Protection Show Car Kit' ($87) which gives you pretty much everything to lay down some good shine and protection. Surface prep is the key (for any wax/protectant), some time spent w/ a claybar is time well spent.

I have 4 black cars and this stuff is great for them. Generally, I'll take a day at beginning of season to claybar, use a paint cleaner/all-in-one product and then two coats of zaino for the cars. After that they just get washed/detail-sprayed for the rest of the year, maybe two more coats of zaino in middle/end of summer and that's pretty much it.

Zaino is very durable and shiny for a long, long. time. It's synthetic as opposed to a 'wax'

What do you folks use to protect maintain your window seals with? I've been told silicone works very well as a preservative with the benefit of keeping the seals lubricated for smooth window operation. I've also heard baby oil but I just can't entertain that option. The scent would be too much for me.

Any opinions?

I use silicone lubricant spray on the window seals. Just spray it on a rag and wipe on. Baby oil is ok too but I agree about the smell but the chicks might like the scent. They might think you are the nurturing type. Mothers Back to Black is great also but it too has a funky smell when the bottle is new. As far as spray waxes/detailer options its hard to beat Final Detail Instant Spray(finaldetail.com) Wax. Easy on/easy off and it lasts for a long time.

I've used Klasse AIO and Meguiar's NXT 1.0

Klasse AIO is a bit easier to use but I find that it doesn't seem to offer the same amount of protection as Meguiar's NXT 1.0 but the overall appearance is about the same. I'll have to run long-term testing with the NXT but it just seems so much easier to buy the NXT at the local store versus ordering Klasse (which is more expensive already).

I have this problem with a little bird, every morning without fail he decides to look at himself in my driver side mirror, then proceeds to crap on my car. He is lucky I havent caught him yet. Point of the story speed detailer takes care of this problem every morning.

Maybe you are lucky you haven't seen the bird yet. It must be one ugly bird who looks in a mirror and takes a dump.
