Mustangs and Fords Magazine

  • Sponsors (?)

I like it. Modified Mustangs was the only Mustang Magazine that I don't currently subscribe to, but now I don't have to worry about it. The mag is twice as thick almost, so it's not really losing any early model content.

Another thing about it is that a lot of classic stang owners also have late models for projects or DD's. Heck, just check my sig. I like being able to read articles and ads that apply to all my Mustangs in one magazine.

I for one am glad they did that. More content is better in my eyes.

hey 68Stang....I've been in your hood back a few years. bout 12, bought a motorcycle there.

as for the mags?....well I have a lowly 67 Drop Top.....magazines, car shows are filled with the late models now. So being an understanding fellow I attempt to appreciate the late models, ask questions etc.. AS SOON as these people find out that I own an "old one" they have NOTHING to say. So goes the mags they follow the money and the money is in the late mods now. It's marketing. Now then for the owners of the late models.....I gave them a chance at more than one show and got the same response. Case in point, Super Stang Fest Daytona last year, My friend has a pretty 93 Drop Top that is black. Well low and behold the ultimate "Black Mustang Club" badgered him for an hour to join their group at the show, he simply pointed at mine and said if you let my friend line up I would love to, LOL they said we don't want those old cars in our club.LOL!!!!!........now my feelings are, if I want to see a late model one I'll drop by my local dealer.
as for the car shows.....I don't waste my time unless I get a reasonable expectation there are "old ones" there. LOL!!!!

So you guys need to understand the mags are looking for the draw of the new cars and the crowds they bring for THE MONEY.

Really? That sucks!:notnice: I have noticed that a lot of late model people don't seem to care about the history of where their car comes from, and have no appreciation for the classics. These are mostly people that have ONLY late models. I've been running into more people like me recently that have almost a 40 year span between their oldest and newest mustang, and they seem to be cool.

I'm surprised you actually know where Savoy is, lol, most people have never heard of it considering there's only about 850 pop. here.

68Stang....yep been in your hood quite a few times. I use to ride my scooter up there (bought one there) often....did a little work there too. Good country IMO.

yeah I thought ALL (or at least a few) Mustang owners were like me......appreciate what folks have and their individual interest in the Stangs. Heck I like any kinda cool car and classic and appreciate the hard work everyone puts in their cars.

But I've found remarkable that the late model owners have nothing to discuss if you own an old one. We've pondered several times buying a new one but both our cars are in great condition and don't need a new one........so we wait.:D

as far as the mags...take a look at MCA....MOST content is about the late models....????? This month they did do a FEW old ones.

Yeah it's pretty sad how them guys act. I met a few cool ones though. He stated that he wished new how to do all the work himself but didn't know how and it was too hard to do on late models. Thats one thing I never understood, new cars at a car show.

Being an owner of classic and late model Mustangs, it's always interesting to see the differences between the two groups. I hang out more in the 94-95 tech/talk section more than here, and a lot of people over there are very knowledgeable about the newer stuff. However, we have 5.0's, so it's much easier to work on them than the mod motor cars. I think fox body/ 94-95 5.0 owners favor the classics better than 96+ owners simply because we all share the 289/302 (5.0) engine platform.

I do all my work on my 95 myself, and the biggest factor on knowing how to do this was through the hands on experience I got from the restoration of my 68. You gotta start with the basics! :D

I've always appreciated both ends of the Mustang spectrum. And, once money allows, I'll try to merge the styling my 68 to the 95 (ie clean, simple, stylish looks) and technology from the 95 to the 68 (ie power windows/locks, bigger wheels/tires, 8.8 rearend, T-5 tranny). They will work together, but it just takes some creativity. :nice:

I'm not at all happy with the merge. I like all years but my main interest is the classics. There are no other mags dedicated to the classics other than Mustang Monthly and they don't cater to the modifying crowd. I've been a long time subscriber to M&F and enjoyed their dedication to the classic cars. It just sucks!

Hey at least we get to see girls in bikinis holding aftermarket parts now! Never saw THAT in the old format! I see the thinking on this with the merging of old and new but I can't say I'm a huge fan of the new format. Maybe it will grow on me...

Yeah I got mine Sat as well, and for now I am on the fence. I like the glossier paper and the fact that there are more girls:rlaugh:( I think it was a ploy to appease those of us who like M&F the way it was), but I miss having the dedicated restomod mag. I own a 07 Mustang, but modding it just isn't anywhere near as fun as working on my 66. I just hope they don't push the classics out eventually.

IIRC, a couple of months ago in M&F's letters to the editor there was a letter asking why they didn't feature more concourse cars, and the editor answered with some dribble on how they fill a niche and are dedicated to the hobby of restomodding classics. So much for that.

I'm just glad we got our article in last month before the new format. Nothing neg from this perspective though. Girls and cars go together like peanut butter and jelly:)

I  so much over your car in that rear suspension install article. I told my wife that you were a stangnetter and that I would love to have that suspension.
BTW, I think you have the best looking 65-66 coupe I've ever seen. No offense to anyone else's car, but if I was going to build a 65-66 coupe and had the money to do it how I want it, it would be EXACTLY the way you've built yours.

Thanks for the extraordinary compliment. You're not just working me for a discount are you lol:)

Cool! Mine is about 9 mos & 75lbs in that pic. He is closer to 80-85 lbs now. They grow fast. This is my first GSD, and I amazed at what a good boy he is. "They" say they will give back ten times what you put into them and so far "they" have been right. Have fun with yours!

And thanks for checking out the site! I am just getting started, but hope to have some good info on there someday. lol.

LOL I note that you use "they" and "GSD" Only a true GSD owner uses those terms......if you play on those GSD boards at all tha wifey is HELLCAT......and I didn't name her that for no good reason. Fact is she wanted some security....and I decided I MIGHT get away from the GSD...but gun shots:jaw:...well that is risky.

Yeahyeahyeah... tell me all about it, Jay. I've seen your infamous commercial; both on the Web and on TV the last time I was in LV! :p

(For those who never heard of/saw Mustang Depot's commercial; it includes two hotties standing by/leaning on a couple of early Stang's. Our boy Jay here posts a link to the commercial; then blows us all away by mentioning that the two babes are in fact his and his partner's wives. )
Not that I'm disbelieving, mind you. If I ever get the XR-7 finished; I'm gonna offer pics up to the owner's of West Coast Classic Cougars for advertising... a "plain Jane" '73, with a blonde, Hungarian, nurse (heh heh - three BIG stars all in the same girl :D ). And yeah, she's my wife.
