Last night on my way home another stang ended up next to me, low and behold it was my buddy in his 425 rwhp 06 automatic stang with 4.10 gears. So as usual we messed around and I couldn't believe it but I actually pulled ahead of him every time we did a little run. He would catch up and pull by but I expected his car to just kill me from the start and fly by but that never happened. He then gave me the thumbs up and said "man you can drive that thing". We then pulled off our exit and went to D&D. He tried to give me the excuse that because it was hot out his timing was all messed up and he wasn't getting full boost. So I don't know what to think of this. The 05+ stangs don't weigh that much more then are cars right? I figure a 425 rwhp should kill my 240-250 rwhp car.

Pretty sure the 05+ stangs were like 3800lbs or something, plus driver. So, yea i would think that he would have beat you pretty badly..

My 2005 Mustang GT coupe weighed 3476 lbs full tank of gas and full weight with no driver. I have every option except the shaker 1000 and auto transmission.

This is what he just wrote to me "After i saw u at DD, my car started to run like ****..Turns out I was almost out of gas!!!! My gauge needs to be replaced under warranty..I was getting on it hard on the highway with no gas in the car!!!! I thought I felt it detonate a little when we were horsing around, It was detonating cuz there was no ****ing gas! Im lucky I didnt blow it up on the highway..I was wondering why it was only hitting about 4 lbs of boost when it should have been at 10...I am soo ****ing lucky it didnt blow up...So word to the wise, dont ever run your car with no gas!!!"

So youre saying your car IS slow? :rlaugh:

JK mang, glad he diddnt blow his Stang up :flag:

Na, I'm still happy at how my car runs. I just need to get the tranny cooler in, J-Mod the transmission and put the B&M Power shifter in it. I have all the parts I just need to put them on. I'm also going to get MM full-length sub frame connectors, new head lights and finish my exterior styling mods. The modding never ends…

Ive never done a shift kit on a newer transmition with computer control. Is it much different than say a 700R4? I mean drill a couple holes and replace a couple springs? Also I thought all that was needed was a programmer to adjust the shifting.

Sorry I havent modded an auto in a long time

I do have a programmer and the shift points are changed but the mod helps the shift be crisper and quicker with putting less wear on the transmission. Its best to have the J-Mod, programmer and tranny cooler. As you can see by my video she shift very good for an automatic. http://s35.photobucket.com/albums/d...view&current=SpringMustangCruise2008_0002.flv

Stock tranny isn't weak - good platform (outside 4th gear), just where it falls short is it's lack of ability to sustain line pressure needed to hold bands and clutches, and also from compromising gear overlap. These issues are dealt with via valvebody modification through the j-mod or supplied parts in a shift kit. I chose to use the J-mod's guidelines for altering the valvebody and for using a different 1-2 accumulator piston instead of the stage II kit's.
Also with the shift kit there's the bonus of having the "Gear Command " feature. Unlike the factory valve body calibration, the shift kit allows you to hold the trans in any gear for as long as needed, and it won't result in smoked clutches. Usually, when manual shifts are performed, the default line pressure for manual shift operation is way too low for holding the clutches and bands. The shift kit increases line pressure when manually shifted to save those friction surfaces.
