So my mac cat-back that came with my car sounds good, but the chrome tip on one side is starting to flake and i cant find replacements. (the chrome goes from the tip all the way to the axle) Plus, the tips arent rolled so they kinda look cheap.

I was thinking the lm1's or lm2's would be the best match to my mrt catted h pipe, but need to know something, whats the difference between the lm1 and lm2? All i can find is something about the resonator shape?

I think i once read that the lm's and the mrt midpipe yield the biggest gains and i think they sound pretty nice. Heres a clip i've found, how does it sound to you guys?

Welcome to Stangnet.
I'm surprised that your Mac catback hasn't rusted on you.
In my opnion both the SLP Loudmouth 1 and 2 sound horrible.
They only sound loud with no real sound to them. Why would
you want a exhaust part (SLP) that belongs on a GM vehicle? :nonono:
Get a Magnaflow Magnapack catback for your mustang if you want something loud that sounds good. Both the regular and magnapack Magnaflow catbacks sound great! :nice:

hmm yeah you're right about it being gm, but i didnt think that sound clip i included sounded half bad. i thought i had seen the magnapack setup for like 700 dollars so i was like forget that. just checked it out its under 500. Only problem is don't the tips have holes drilled on the bottom side of them by the edge or something? i always thought that kinda looked stupid. Thats what i wanted to get away from with the mac set up.

lol, i guess i didnt really listen to that video too closely. This is the set up im running now

-it had a slight leak at the time but sound isnt affected. . .

Would it be stupid to just paint my exhaust tips satin black to cover up the rust spot, and also have a blacked out look?
Don't paint your tips black that would be untastefull. :notnice:
Get yourself a different catback exhaust because all the Mac catbacks are
notorious for rusting on you.The Magnaflow Magnapack catback should
be perfect for you.

I dunno, i really dig the deep sound i have right now and i dont wanna risk losing it. As of now the mufflers and the pipes haven't rusted its just the end of the chrome tip is flaking a bit. I don't know if its worth 500 just over that, everything else is fine. with the c/b. I would just change the tips if i could but the tip if thats what you can call it is one solid piece that is chromed all the way to the hump over the axle

I know what you are saying the tips on the Mac catback are poor
quality and the chrome will slowly flake away and look bad.
The Magnaflow Magnapack catback has a nice deep sound to it
plus it's all good quality stainless steel (will not rust).
Over some time your tips will only look worse as the chrome flakes
away. For what you will pay for new tips and having them installed
you mite as well just get yourself a new catback exhaust plus it
will look better than the Mac crap.

Meh, magnaflow sounds too stock, and magnapacks and SLP are on equal ground the way I see it. LM1=too truck sounding
Lm2= too poppy and GM
get something chambered and then o/r H IMO. classic v8 sound, it's how a Ford SHOULD sound.

The regular Magnaflows sound alittle louder than stock but still have a
very nice tone and sound to them. They also scream at WOT.
The Magnaflow Magnapacks don't sound like the SLP Loudmouth 1 or 2.
They are loud yes and have some of the poping noise but are unique
and sound alot better in my opnion than the SLP Loudmouth 1 and 2.
The SLP exhaust is for GM vehicles like the Camaro,Firebird,Trans Am etc.
not a Ford Mustang. :nonono::notnice:

The LMIs only sound good with stock mid pipe. LMIIs sound 10x better than the Is with or with out stock mid. The IIs are actual mufflers unlike the I's which are just resonators.

IMO, the IIs will sound awsome with the MRT catted H, which is why my MRT H is on it's way to me :nice:

The II's have a real nice deep sound to them, also a lot more tone then the I's.

If you wait a few weeks, I should have a clip of my MRT catted H which the LMIIs. They will sound good.

EDIT: if you click on my SeaFoam vid in my sig, that is the LMIIs with UPR o/r mid pipe. You can somewhat hear how they sound

yea, i can stand LMII there ok.

The thing is, we as ford guys dont have much going for us, the GMs are faster, more popular, cheaper to mod.
The only thing we have going for us is our sound, and while LMII and Magnapacks can sound alright, they all sound like they belong on GMs.
Atleast, we still have our sound, which is why i run chambered w/ H pipe on any ford v8 i own

I've never heard a camaro that sounded anything like a stang, but at the same token i get what you're saying. For me, magnapacks is the only muffler that would work with my side-pipe design given it's short length and width; but i still love the sound.

I have run several set ups, but so far my two favorite have been Mac o/r H + flows, and Mac o/r H + LMII's.

I really just started to get tired of the flows. They got quiet to me, and I wanted something new. I found a great deal on an SLP catback with LMI's...fit was awesome, sounded terrible. I bought the LMII's, swapped them in and I like it. It's still deep, and contrary to popular belief IT STILL SOUNDS LIKE A MUSTANG to those who think SLP's sound like GM.

I have found that the only time I dont care for the SLP sound is with a heavy load, or WOT early in the RPM range. Other than that, the LMII's sound pretty good, and the fitment is superb, and I love the tips.

lm2= too poppy with my o/r H. mustangs scream Chamebbbeerredd!! whoo rumble rumble whoo! Roo ROOO
LM1 sound EXACTLY like cherry bombs, i dont know how LM1 still sells.
Magnapack kinda sounds like theres a midget italian dude in the exhaust rolling his toungue.

Hey dragstr, you ran 13s with a catback, H, SCT tuner and a drop in K&N? tahts great. I'm on a quest to run 13s myself. how was the weather when you ran? And how much did the SCT tuner help your 1/4? were you on drag radials?
