Anybody know where you get the pullies for the Vortechs that are Billet aluminum or polished. I called Vortech and they dont seem to know anything about them. I know I have seen them on cars before. I have a stock 3.33 pulley, and I Was interested in getting maybe a 3", but I wanted to get a polished one.

Thanks

No prob Rob.

Heads up that you'll need a slightly shorter belt to run the smaller pullies also. For the 2.95" it is 8-rib 56.5" (#080565) IIRC and you'll want to get the belt tight, readjusting a couple times as it stretches.

Well, I still have a LOT of room to move down on the tensioner, so hopefully that will work. Also, is there anything special I need to do to remove that pulley? On Vortech website is says "caution when removing pulley" Im not too sure what they are implying there.

Thanks

An impact wrench for the center bolt and a good puller for the pulley. I bent a cheap 3jaw trying to get mine off. A quality 2jaw will do the trick.

Easier to get the pulley off for the first time with the blower off the car on account of the a/c line. If you don't plan on doing the swap now, at least break the pulley free OUT of the car and reinstall it so that next time it comes out easier and you can do it in car.

With a 2.95 you will need a 5080565 (56-1/2") belt. No way the 3.33 belt will fit.

Good place to get a belt

Pulley ASP510095 I got was black

Pull it off carefully with a 2 or 3 jaw puller and put some antiseze on it when reinstalling. Don't forger to loosen the bolt before you loosen the belt. Don't loose the key

Also if you under warranty removing the pulley will void the warranty

What key?
The blower is off the car for my engine swap. I guess I can mount on the Vortech ON the engine OUT of the car, then put the belt on it, then take off the pulley.

I use the Reichard Racing "Ultra grip" to stop my belt from slipping. It didn't slip until I went with the 2.95" standard Vortech pulley. The Ultra grips have grooves cut into the pulley that "Grips" the belt (See link bottom right photo). Also I use a Gates or Napa(Made by Gates) belt. The Reichard pulleys also have deeper grooves and the Gates belts fit them. I had a Goodyear Gatorback belt and the grooves are not as deep and it slipped!!

Heres a link http://www.reichardracing.com/pulleys.php

I saw the link but there are no prices.

On the "key" is that just part of the shaft, like on the Balancer? I was just wondering how that gets lost.

I really dont "need" a smaller pulley....I just wanted one that is polished, so I was going to change while I am at it. With the 331 and stock block limits, I dont know if I want to push more boost.

wow. i found a used 2.95 vortech pulley for like 40 shipped on corral a while back. not polished though.

The ones from the Ebay place are aluminum but not polished. With the amt of money Im pouring into this thing now for a show-looking car, I may just suck it up and go for the Reichard racing one...they are supposed to be better-gripping anyway..Thanks
