Midpipe dilemna

I finally decided to go with a MAC prochamber for my '03 snake. However, the guys at my local shop kind of bursted my bubble today. They told me that no one makes MIL eliminators any longer because they have been outlawed...without MILs I'll get a check engine light (I would rather not deal with that). They gave me two options: 1- go with an H or X pipe with high flow cats (they recommended a BBK - $409.99) or 2- stay with the prochamber and get a custom tune which I live about an hour and a half from Modular Depot in Cincinnati, OH (if anyone has heard of them). Anyone with catted X or H pipes who can give me some opinions on sound and/or performance gains? I know Modular Depot charges $90.00 an hour for tuning but, I really wasn't ready to get a custom tune at least not until I buy a cold air kit.....Any opinions will be appreciated.

Thanks guys...

You can get the MIL eliminators online anywhere for around $30; I had the prochamber and didn't like it that much for sound. I have a Bassani off-road X-pipe that sounds sick. This is of course preference...

Thanks...Yeah, your right...I just found a set through Mustangs Unlimited for $69.95. The guys at the shop are usually quite informative. Not sure what the deal is with the eliminator thing???

U.M.- When you say the prochamber will be loud...do you mean in a authoratative/aggressive sound or like an obnoxious make me want to put a gun in my mouth loud? I had an off-road h-pipe on my previous '03 GT and enjoyed it but, there seems to be a lot of hype about the prochamber and it's performance. Thanks again....

I have an '03. I doubt there's even a measurable difference between the ProChamber and say a BBK O/R H-Pipe. Especially on our factory boosted application. In fact some people have reported a small loss in HP/TQ between an O/R pipe and the catted versions. For some reason our cars like a little back pressure.

I run a set of JBA shorty headers, a Magnaflow catted X, and a Magnaflow cat-back myself.

U.M.

I kind of thought the same thing in the differences in the two and I've also heard that before about Terminators liking a little back pressure . My second choice is a BBK catted x-pipe. I think I'll go with that. I'll should gain a little HP and a little more sound with the catted x shouldn't I? Thanks, again....

I just installed my prochamber and I unplugged the rear o2's and inserted bung plugs for the rear o2 bungs. I have an xcal 2 and one of the options is to turn the rear o2's off. I love the way it sounds. I did notice a little torque loss.
