Hey guys....well I just sold my 99 WS6 and am looking to get into a newer GT. I had a 93 LX 5.0 a few years back and loved that car...but I want something newer. So I found a 03 GT somewhat local (about an hour away) and before I go check it out, I was hoping you guys could answer a few ?'s :)

Here is the link....funny I saw it on a LS1 site:eek:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=926861&highlight=

Anyways as you can see, the car has 80K miles...here are where my ?'s start

-For the higher mileage owners out there...what starts to go on these cars at/around 80+K. He hasn't replaced anything (besides fuel filter) Says everything work perfect. I'd hate to buy the car and the waterpump goes, or the PS pump, or anything like that. I know it's a used car, but still. Basically how reliable are these cars once you get 80+K. What do you forsee needing to get replaced upcoming soon?

-The car is 95% stock...which is what I wanted. When I drive it, is there anything in particular I should be looking for?

ANythinge else you guys can tell me will be appreciated too!
Thanks!:nice:

I have about 120K on my 99GT and have owned it since 40K. Only thing I can think of going out was the COP's at about 100K, I bought some low mileage ones on ebay for about $50 and has been running great since as these from the dealer are quite exspensive.

that guy is on stangnet, look on the last page of the 4.6 photo thread, theres pics of the car there too,

yup Im here , I told him what maintance Ive done , oil changes and fuel filter thats it , car hasnt had any problems at all so why change something thats not broken :) , I had a 96 cobra SC with a good tune 180K miles and ran like it had 80K , its all about keeping up on the maintance , Ive had new cars with headaches in the past also ,04 GTO, 04 Lightning , O3 Mach 1 ( 2 trannys) and over 30 stangs your more than welcome to go thur the car with a fine comb :) I say my car is well worth the 9K that Im asking

hahaha...hey man. I just wanted to ask the knowledgeable folks on here how there 4.6's were holding up. My buddy had an 04 GT. Bought it brand new, and just sold it with 65K. NEVER a problem with it at all. Also another friend had an 02GT...same thing. These cars seem very reliable...I just don't want a dud....however, it doesn't look like this one is a dud:) Still waiting to hear from you about a day for me to come....e-mail me as soon as you know

Anybody else can chime in on there past experiences with there GT's....still listening

Thanks!

The modular engines and cars are excellent rides :nice: While it looks way better than the catfish it will be dissapointing power wise till you get a power adder

Yeah, that is the only thing that sucks...My catfish (as you call it:rlaugh:) I think your referring to my old WS6 ran 11.7's at 115. Absolute Beast. I know the GT won't be anywhere's close, but I figure throw a full exhaust on there to wake her up a little, and just drive it. Once you start making big power, things start going wrong left and right. I am over the big power phase....but I don't want a slug:rolleyes:

Why would you want a 4.6l when you had an LS1? The cars are comparable in all respects..except when it comes to power and there the fbody has the edge every time (and im talking about NA2v's and 4v's, not terminators, and dont give me that HP/liter argument lol).

I believe that Mustangs can be made into corner carvers for much cheaper than LS1 FBodies but I totally agree with you BB2v.

exuast will do very little for you on a modular. I think the most i've seen is like 10hp from a offroad xpipe and flowmasters. bolt ons and tune will yeild some gains but if you want a screamer you will need some kind of FI. 2v gts will take about 425 to the wheels after that the rods will probably give out.

Don't get me wrong LS1's are beasts...I have had a 15 sec car down to a mid 11 sec car...so basically 200rwhp to 425rwhp. Like I said more is obviously more fun:D But my cars are daily drivers...and once I added power, It needed stuff that I think it wouldn't have needed if it were stock (or close to it)

So here I am today. I want a stock car and don't want another f-body...but still want a sports car. Vette is out of my range. Don't want a foxbody B/C I want something newer...Don't want a 94-98...so that lead me to 99-04's. They are in my price range, look sweet, have decent power. Seemed like the way to go.
Hell if the car is a mid-high 13 sec car, I'd be happy. But like I said the car is by no means a track car, so power isn't a huge factor. Smokin imports to 60 on the street from a light still will be fun though!:D

I guess the consensous here is that these cars...even with high mileage are fairly reliable. That's what I am hoping anyway
