I'm actually surprised. I don't like the new 2010 Stang shots.

The interior is bleah. I don't care if it's retro progression. I don't like the square center vents mixed with the other round vents, round tach/speedo, and round steering wheel! That was not a good design back then and it's not now!

Anyone notice the "all in one" stalk on the left steering column? Looks like it's the blinker, wipers and lights all in one. I like the separation we have now and the rotator switch fo the lights.

Oh and that steering wheel! Radio controls and even those subtle thumb detents be damned! It looks like something out of a Dodge!

And why don't we get the super bitchin original concept style brake lights! We've waited for so long! The new Challenger has them. Why not the Stang? Yes it means a trunk with a lid and folks will have to "lift over" their groceries, WHO CARES! It's a Mustang!

Looks like a return to "not looking forward to" the next Stang model is back. Not sure how I feel. I know I am keeping the car I have until I die, but I did want a new convertible for cruising. I guess I will catch a deal on an "older" one.

I actually don't mind the interior from what I've seen, but the exterior is not lookin' too hot. I don't want to judge too early, because when we see it all, it might work. But as of right now, the taillights are hideous, the chrome in the headlamps looks cheesy, and I'm not diggin' some of the body lines. So far, the only thing it has goin' for it is hips.

I wonder how hard it would be to take those hips and have them put on my '07? :)

I would also go for having the tail lights run side to side closing off the bottom trunk opening. As they are now, they stick out far enough that it makes putting larger objects in very difficult or impossible. Like the kids puzzle, trying to put a circle piece into the star hole:shrug:
I will be keeping my '06 for many years down the road and just continue to mod and replace/upgrade as parts die.

I also don't care for those taillights either. IMO they're both too large, and too far apart. On the other hand, I do like the interior as it looks even more reminiscent of the 67-68 dash with the 2 rectangular shaped vents, in the center along with the re-styled center console.

However even with hips, it still will not be enough to persuade me in giving up my current 05 GT. Although I've also thought about, as to whether or not those hips could be retro fitted for the current 05-09 models. But someone from another website has already pointed out, that every other body panel would also have to be swapped out as well, in order to fit and look right.

Oh well, perhaps the aftermarket might be able come out with a body panel kit with similar hips.

I don't see why you would have to swap out everything else. The doors and body lines should be the same. We won't know until we see the whole car. But the greenhouse is the same, so you'd just need to find a good body shop to weld the hip portion onto the existing quarter panels. It definitely wouldn't be bolt on, but that's the type of cars they make these days.

I don't like anything I've seen so far. The new taillights are fugly, I don't like the changes to the interior, and don't particularly like the new trunk emblem either. THe current mustang will be a very hard car to improve upon, in my opinion.

Why doesn't Ford just do what Nissan does witht eh 350z? They recognize they have a sexy design so they don't change it. Even after all this time the next 350z looks essentially the same, it's just smaller and lighter overall.

You don't always have to change everything every couple years, esthestically anyway.

I think the front end looks like the worst part. They made it look a lot more like the late 90's and early 2000's models which is not good at all. I never would have even considered buying a Ford before the 2005's came out, but they looked so good I ended up getting one. Now they're trying to make them fugly again.

If they are as unattractive as they seem to be so far in pics I have seen the '05-'09 resale values will stay above what they normally would be after a new model is produced. Face it weather you like the '05-'09 styling or not it was a grand slam and it will a hard to follow. If it wasn't for the retro-muscular change from the '94-'04 models I for one would have never considered buying one. Beside the '69-'70 models the '05-'09's are the sexiest models built as far as I am concerned. I am sure alot of S197 owners agree. I can always mod mine for more power if I like while already having the killer look I want. The '87-'93's are also cool and ripe for making a great inexpensive street/strip car. I just am not keen on the other model years including the upcoming 2010 even if a few might have more HP like the '03-'04 Cobras. As soon as my warranty expires that will change though.

I think most pics are either photoshopped or the actual preproduction car has camoflague partically covering the front and back. I think the Mustang Source site may have the latest spyshots of actual test mules. Does anyone have a recent link handy?

Well If I don't see something NEW from the Stang GT soon...
I will buy a 2009 Challenger or a 2010 Camaro SS.......
I have bought Stang Gts since 1995 New..
So I guess I have owned 5 of them....
I really don't care if I take my business somewhere else.
Maybe its worth a change,,,A 2010 Camaro looks hottttttttttttttt

I'm missing something here. Where can I see the pictures? I've googled and have only seen cars almost completely covered. Is there a link?

Here are 2 links of the latest spy photo's, however the 2010 prototype is still almost completely covered.

If you're expecting to see uncovered pic's, the 2010 will not be fully revealed until this year's L.A auto show, sometime this upcoming November !

Well I guess you'll have a long wait then, as the Challenger R/T won't be coming out until at least by mid 2009.

As for the 2010 Camaro, it also won't be arriving in dealer showrooms, until around the same time as the Challenger R/T.

However Ford has already confirmed, the 2010 Mustang will go into production this upcoming February of 2009.

So it appears, the 2010 Mustang will arrive ahead of both the 2009 Challenger R/T, and 2010 Camaro !

Geeeeeee I don't know where you are getting your infomation from??????
The 2009 Hemi Challenger RT will be out in Sept
As for the 2010 Camaro SS will be out in march or april 2009.......
What is ford afraid of?????
People have seen what the Challenger and Camaro will look like in FULL for awhile now.
What is ford afraid off?????
Do they really think someone will steal the look of their newset stang Gt?????
And Ford will not change their 4.6 till sometime in 2011.
It makes yea wonder ford is screwing up with less HP then all the others.
Well since Ford is trading around $5.00 a share, makes you think if ford will be around within the next 5 years.....
Tooo me I think ford will be out of business....
Truth should never hurt
Opps by the way GM is not far behind ford

Too me get rid of as many Ford and GM people off of the payrolls
and make money for the investors....Yea babyyyyyyy

Well for starters, Dodge didn't have previous Challenger models to sell, until the recent SRT8 became available just this past April. As for GM, they also do not have current Camaro's that need to be sold, before the 2010 models arrive.

You then ask what Ford is afraid of ? Well Ford's only concern, is if they reveal the 2010 Mustang too soon. That it will hurt current 2009 sales, but I suppose you forgot that Ford has existing 2009 models to clear out, before the 2010's arrive. Where as neither Dodge, nor GM has any existing Challengers, and Camaro's to clear out, now do they.

That being said, Ford isn't afraid of a d@mn thing, nor are they in the least bit concerned about someone stealing the look of the 2010 Mustang, in which you know full well that the Challenger is already in production, along with the production version of the 2010 Camaro nearly completed.

It's just as you said, the truth should never hurt, but sometimes it sure does for those who don't want to face it. :jester:

I don't really care about taillights or air vents, the car is still going to look the same basically and that's good. The big deal is what's under the hood for the GT. If it's a 400 hp 5.0 then our cars aren't going to be worth squat.
