Modified Mustangs & FORDS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

:nonono:

I sent in my renewal card with "bill me later" x'ed on it before i had known of the switch. Guess who won't be billing them later! Thanks for the 2 free mags though! This was like the best Fox mag out there before the change. Now its junk(as far as i'm concerned) ha. Then they had to go and merge with the classics. Why couldn't they just be happy with Mustangs & Fords. I wish somebody would come out with a Fox specific mag. Don't get me wrong i like other Mustangs besides the Fox, but i just love reading Fox coverage.

Kind of off topic. I really like how MM&FF was bragging about there big success with their mag and it being like 300+ pages. I bet if you sat down and counted, more then HALF would be advertising. :notnice: To me that mag has turned into nothing but a big monthly catalog!

And i'm sure there will be alot of people saying that the mag is better now because of the merge, and thats great because i'm happy for you. But i and probably alot of others would like to see a '79-93 or even '79-95 Stang specific mag come out! Cross your fingers!

i agree man. i know times are changing and theres only so much you can cover on the same ol' car (in their eyes), but like you, i'm a FOX guy. i like reading about FOXs. i skip over about 98% of the sn95/s197 spreads.

I'll agree. I just re-upped for a new three year subscription the month before the change. Honestly, if I had seen the new format first, I probably would have let it expire like I have all my other Mustang magazines. Modified was really cool because just about every month had a Fox, an SN95, a New Edge and an S197. It was a late-model rag that had really balanced coverage. I didn't have to wade through 4 articles on the latest cosmetic upgrades for 05-08's just to get to the one article that applied to 5.0's. I'll try to keep an open mind, but so far I'm just not feeling it and I'm bummed.

I let all my subscriptions run out bit for some reason every couple months a random 5.0 magazine will show up in the mail. I think i stopped paying them a year ago ! :)

Honestly, it's the same stuff every month. A HUGE catalog and a few 10 second cars the average joe would never have. Plus i'm getting sick of all these special edition '05's created by tuner companies. Seems like every month there's a new company swinging it's version.

Plus the tech stuff has been favoring sponsors.

For example.

"Hi, these Fox Mustang brakes suck. I'm 16 years old and saved every penny since I was 8 to buy my Mustang but i'm going to get killed. I hear there are ways to swap better brakes onto these cars? Can you tell me how? - Johnny "

"Dear Johnny, the Baer package brake kit is the way to go for you! You'll get awesome braking performance and at $4999, it's a price everyone can afford!"

Stangnet is my home for tech and nice rides

Well said :rlaugh:

+1 on the fox only mag. I know they cant run just foxes and they have to push the advertisers but could they give us a break from the multitude of tuner 197's that are out there? There is a mag called the rodders journal that is quarterly, full glossy pics, great shots of awesome cars and lots of pics of old (40's and up) hot rods from that time, problem is the mag is 15 bucks an ish. I wont pay that for it (but ill look at it every time im at Barnes and Noble) but i would pay that for a fox mag, 79 - 95. And not just the blown 10 second freaks either, I want to see some low mile 93 cobras and cobra r's, the average joe thats been working on his stock looking mid 12's daily driver. If its a mag that has fox's then it would need advertisers that not only sell go fast parts but restoration parts too, so lets see some early 80's gt's with a stock look but maybe a dohc cobra drivetrain or a full on resto of a 84 gt (I bet darkwriter would like to see that now...) so they can throw those sponsors a bone that way.
I quit buying magazines (heck i dont even pick them up to look anymore) because its all advertising. they are as bad as my girlfriends Glamour mag, except glamour is full of hot chicks.

+1 on what aaros and 5L5 said.

Hey wow its the new GT 281/350/500/331/427 H/R/S which is just a bunch of paint, tape, big stereo and huge rims on a mostly stock 3v S197. The all important cold air intake is a must have ya know...Theres no substance anymore. Just another worthless attempt at being as cool as the classics. Not gonna happen, in my book!

The fox stuff is really nice to read about, however, the aftermarket is focusing more on the 4.6s now. I think the 5.0s have passed the torch in that category. Most of the fox articles are stuff you already know about thanks to stangnet/corral/whatever.

lol @ the $5k brake upgrade for a 16 year old. very good point there. junkyards and the internet FTW!

I dont even remember to look at the mags anymore, my collection of random mags from '97-'04 has me covered on tech stuff. There really isnt anything new to say about a fox, except for restoration/repair stuff.

I dont mind the '96-'04 4.6 stuff they focus on real performance; but the aftermarket is trying to force the S197 into a modern classic instead of letting it happen. I just saw on the homepage today that there is a 'Race Craft Saleen Mustang', I know its been said, but come on how many "special editions" will they make? Whats so special about it, now its just "another" Mustang. Back in the day you used to break your neck to see a Saleen or Roush Mustang, now you cant tell a SE from a body kit.

And its true in this day and age most guys already know their way around a fox, and none of us are going to pay for a mag when we can turn to the internet for free advice and see nice rides.

I would like to see more cars that anyone can build, but then again those usually aren't the nicest ones and someone else would be complaining. You can't blame the magazines for trying to get the most money by appealing to that market. I wish someone had a fox or fox/sn95 mag but you might feature all of them and run out of cars to shoot.

my boss handed down his collection of car craft and car and drivers from the late 80's and early 90's. cool to open the cover and see the "225 horses are bound to kick something" ad, and talk about the old school tech articals! There are some interesting reads in it though. they are handy to whip out and show the youngsters that they did have a big car show in Duquoin back then...
