ok i have a 2000 gt and its stock except for the o/r x-pipe and the flowmasters. well i noticed when i was playin around the other day im running rich. well me and my fiance's bro (he has a 2005 gt) were on either side of a turbo civic. we were goofin with him them her bro swung behinde me and i started toying with the civic. i got into it and i saw a good bit of smoke coming from my pipes and here bro told me that he could smell the unburned fuel. so my question is can a hotter plug take care of that or should i just get it tuned. if i should just get tuned i need a place close to new orleans that i dont need my own handheld. one place told me to do it i had to buy dyno time and a handheld and would cost like $900. i said he was krazy. all help appreciated

you stock, why should you worried about get it tune ?

Could somebody translate this into a coherent English sentence :rlaugh:

Great question, by the way, and I'm interested in the same thing. My 01 smells rich at idle and I've wondered the same thing. I asked a Ford service guy about a "tune" and he basically told me its all up to the computer so there isn't much a "tune" would do. Is that true?

well i do have an off road x pipe and bigger rear tires. and getting it tuned couldnt hurt anything. but all i wanted to know is will a hotter plug get rid if the extra fuel that i have. because as high as gas prices are right now i would at least like to but the excess

You haven't been around too many cars with o/r mid pipes have you?

They all spew unburned fuel. That cats are supposed to help with this. No cats means you are smelling raw exhaust and that's basically what it smells like

You can dynotune a stock car. I've seen guys get 10HP on a custom tune with an SCT chip...but with 93 octane I beleive.

+1

Cats burn excess fuel, thats part of their function. I have been told by several people that riding behind me at WOT the fumes are rediculous.
