Question re wiring for 65 fastback

Hi all.

I'm located in Australia and need a headlamp wire harness and an engine guage wire harness (already have underdash harness) for my 65 fastback that i am restoring. Contacted my local supplier and he said for the 65 there are a couple of options for the harness i need - either i get a) the one for Warning Lamps or b) the one for Alternator and guages. He could not advise any further and i don't know which one i need.

Can someone shed any light on the matter, i'm not too good with electricals.

Appreciate any advice.

Cheers

Is your '65 a GT model? The GTs would have gauges and not warning lights. I had a '65 FB that was not a GT, but had everything else, including the Pony interior with gauges. So take a look at your instrument panel and see if you have seperate gauges for oil, temp, fuel, charging (amp). if it does have gauges, then you should get the harness for lthe gauges. something to be aware of, the underdash harness is different with gauges or lights. We are currently building a 65 coupe, (photos under truck90278) which originally had lights and we changed it to the main harness for gauges. They are different. The headlamp wiring harness for the "instrument lights" main harness will not plug into the firewall connector for the main harness for "gauges" as I recall (it may have been the engine harness that did not match. Can't mix the two. We are still in the process of installing the electrical

Thanks truck90278, appreciate the quick reply.

Hoping someone may now be able to help with another problem - I bought the underdash wiring harness and the wiring that goes from the dash to the back lights. A fuel sender unit comes off the wiring that goes to the rear lights. The trouble is i can''t find a hole in the trunk floor that the wiring goes through. I have seen the hole in the 66 fastback but not in the 65. Does not appear that a hole has been welded up. The unfortunate thing is there was no sender unit in the 65 when i got it. so i''ve got no idea. Anyone got a 65 who can shed some light?

thanks again

Mine comes through right in the center. Could be because of the dual exhaust.
