I have a 1970 mustang coupe that i have had for 17 yrs. (my first car) I am doing a restomod (pro touring) restoration, I have it dissasembled now and have bought the heidits superride ll kit for the front which i am going to put air ride technologies bags on, I was wanting ideas for the rear suspension , I am thinking a four link kit like the heidts kit and putting air ride on it as well with maybe a mini tub and deep offset wheel??

It was a automatic i will be changing to a 5 or 6 speed with a fuel injected motor maybe a 408 stroker or 427

If anyone has any suggestions or comments id like to hear them all now before i start buying parts,, thanks guys
Colby

Welcome to the site! there are lots of helpful folks here. I am currently working on a '70 as well, only I am starting with the drivetrain then going to chassis/suspension. So I can recommend some vendors that I have bought from.

Engine: I decided to go with a 408 because a 4" stroke is about as far as can go without running into clearance issues with a stock 351 block. If you go to a 4 1/4" stroke (427) it is pretty much guaranteed to interfere some where. Started with a std. bore '71 351W block and had it machined at a local machine shop. Got the stroker kit from Fordstrokers.com, it's a 408 Street fighter kit. Jay Allen @ Camshaft Innovations set up my entire top end. It has a custom ground cam, Trick Flow CNC'd heads, Comp retro roller lifters. Comp Gold roller rocker arms, Comp timing chain, Victor Jr. intake, and a custom built carb from Pro Systems. Jay Allen, Jim (Woody) Woods @ Fordstrokers, and Patrick @ Prosystems have been a pleasure to deal with and highly recommend them. I also recommend checking out s b f tech (you will have to remove the spaces in the sbft and add the .com yourself besause this site won't let me) for some great engine tech. Woody owns the site, and Jay is a moderator there.

Transmision: I went to Bruce Couture @ Modern Driveline and got a complete conversion kit (C4 to 5 speed) with a Tremec TKO 600. You name it and it came in this kit, it is a complete kit. I can also recommend Bruce and Modern Driveline as well. You will not be disappointed.

I chose to buy from these people based mostly on their reputation and customer service. Getting top quality parts was just a bonus:D. I have had Jim Woods answer my phone calls twice on Sundays. I was just calling to leave a message, imagine my surprise when he answered the phone both times.

I have not yet decided on a rear suspension yet, but I like the TCP G-bar and the Max-G Satchell link systems more than the others. Of course you can't rule out Evolution Motorsports 3-link or the RRS torque arm systems either.

Hope some of this helps. Good luck with your project.
