challenger

For cars that are solidly builty, they tend to weigh a bit more then regular cars. The Challenger is based off of the previous generations E-class benz. As are the 300, and the Charger, and magnum as well. Lots of steel make for a heavy car. But its a tank that will retain stiffness over the life of the car. Unlike the mustang which feels like its got 100k at only 30k.

Saw the adverts for the Saleen Charger in a car mag - I agree with everyone on the "heavy" aspects. The Camaro looks to have the same heft issues. Those huge arching rear fenderwells and the cars massive ground clearance give it a bit a truck look to me for some reason. They ought to extend the trunk and it would make an awesome El Camino! That Pontiac car/truck thing looks like $&*%.

They also sell the Challenger Drag package for about the same price. They are 1000 pounds lighter and will be legal NHRA cars but not for street. I seen them race on NHRA dragracing and I think they ran low 11s or in the 10s. Here is a pic of one.

Pretty sure the Camaro is gonna weigh ~3700lbs, and its V6 is a 3.6L and will supposedly put out 300hp according to GM's official unveiling yesterday.

Hope Ford surprises us with a real engine in the coming years. I'm tired of disappointing numbers. Need a special edition N/A engine like a Boss 302 to compete with Camaro SS's. And I don't care if it feels like 100k miles at 30k miles, keep it lighter than the competition.

New Challenger is f'n hot, I think I like them the most out of the big 3 muscle cars. If I had some extra scratch and wasn't just about to pay off my Mach, I'd get a new R/T.

saw my first new challenger today. ran next to him for a couple of miles trying to get his attention but he was on the phone (or pretending to be) the whole time. i guess thats something u can do when ur car doesn't come with a manual transmission. was hoping to post the first challenger kill story. they're not as ugly in person as i thought though.

he was just smarter than you.

This is on SVT Performance, A guy ran one with his Lighting:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok i was on my way to work crusing on I88 east heading towards 294 when in the right roles up a brand new black Challenger with dealer plates on the rear. He looks at me and i look back.. he then proceeds to gun it and i rip it after him. Before we shut down my front bumper almost lined up with his. So he rolls down the window and starts saying nice truck and wants real go so i yell back 40 mph roll? and shakes his head yes i honk it off and there we go.... i instantly pull one car one him as i hit the middle of third i keep pulling on him (in my mirror it looked to be about 2-2 1/2 car lengths. We both shut down and all he could do was look at me in total shock, mouth dropped and all! I totally thought i was gonna get smoked as he did he but i guess the L held its own. so after being in shock he thumbs up me and jump off onto the next exit in front of us...

In the short time the Challenger SRT8 has been out I've seen a lot of stories already about Mustang GTs killing them. And I'll tell you right now, they are all pure BS except the one I read where the Mustang driver admitted it was error on the Challenger driver's part. Maybe so if you're in a Shelby or have some good running mods, but a stock Mustang GT WILL NOT beat a Challenger SRT8. Maybe in your dreams, but not in real life.

I get the feeling we're going to be seeing a lot of kill stories where the Mustang driver toasted a 6cyl thinking it was an R/T or SRT.

I'm pretty sure I could have taken him. Even if he is smarter than me.

Though he didn't look like the educated type.

I hope the next Mustang has sleeker looks. If they didn't change much, they're all gonna look so outdated compared to this guy and the new Camaro. Won't be good for sales

First only the SRT8s are out and second its an auto what the hell kind of driver error is there. Now I don't think a stock 05+ GT could beat one but I think a intake and tune 05+ GT could give one a run for its money.
