Tax evasion if you fill up your boat or jetski at the car gas pump?

Yeah tell me about it! I live in Ohio near the lake, self serve is $4.08 a gallon for 87 octane. Then when you go in, a 20oz pop is $1.39, you look two shelves lower and a 2 liter is only 99 cents...what's up with that!? And don't get me started about 79 cent candy bars!!! I understand inflation and paying for convience, but that's rediculous! Oh, and about pumping your jet ski fuel at a land gas station, it's 100 percent legal. Marina's can only limit you from bringing cans of fuel onto their property to fuel your vehicle that is already there, and most do this because they want to sell you their gas so they can make the profit.

Its funny...

I agree its kind dumb and i could probably pump my own gas faster then the attendent - BUT we have some of the lowest gas prices IN THE COUNTRY on a regular basis.. I filled my jeep up this morning and it was $3.73

No law about you filling up at your local gas station. I do it every weekend, considering my boat burns a gallon a minute, I like to save that .50-.75 cents a gallon! Like the other guy said, I also used to work for a marina at the lake of the ozarks and we (the marina) bought our gas for the exact same price the gas stations on land sells it for. The have the same % mark up as they do. So its not like they are making any more money off the the gas, they just pay more for it that the gas stations do. Also, when you fill it up at the marina or gas station go inside and ask for an offroar sales receipt and save them. Being it is for a boat, PWC, etc... and not driven on the roads you can write it off on your taxes. I think you get back roughly 13% per gallon you buy.

3.63 for 87octane in orlando hahahaha.. 38.ish bucks to fill up my civic and go 360+miles all city.....:) its sad my civics epa is better than 2009 matrix's and corolla's...there advertising 30mpg likes its something new......
sorry this is all kind of off topic

Serious? that's pretty slick.....I never heard of anyone doing that before :nice:

Yep. Since gas has the road tax added into the price you will get back $0.13 for every gallon you by for your boat. (amount may vary between states to what they charge for road tax) At teh marina I used to work for we would add it all up for all our customers who had accounts with us and send them the paperwork at the end of each year for it. Just an extra service we did and they didn't have to worry about keeping track of each receipt all year. And when I fill up at das stations on land I just ask the cashier for an oofroad receipt for what I put in the boat.

While on the boat topic I guess I'll do a lil' boat pic whoring:D
