Thanks for the support guys. This was honestly my car from when I was 16 years old and I was planning on having it for a long while. I talked to the officer and wrecking yard today and found out some interesting details. Apparently this was a multi-state, MUSTANG bust. They had 19 87-93 stangs that were either stripped or fixed up. The wrecking yard said that they know work was done because "it's really loud" compared to the other 18 and before I wouldn't have discribed it as loud. Hopefully that doesn't mean they just took the mufflers off. Also, they said that the paint is pretty rough, it is REALLY dirty and looks like it was left on a dirt road through rain. Other than that he said it looks like it is in awesome shape. He said that he has a whole warehouse full of mustangs, rims, parts, etc. from this bust.

I hope no shows got a hold of it. If Xhibit took my car I'd shoot myself, then I'd shoot the car! However, I'm thinking of submitting my story to horsepower, muscle car, etc. and see if they want to take it off my hands, fixing her up, etc. They have never done anything like it before.

Great news to hear you got your car back and YES submit that idea, TV shows etc will eat that up!

I agree, everyone would love to read a story like yours with a happy ending. I've read WAY too many stores of mustangs getting stolen and all they ever find is the bare shell and no suspects

So here’s the deal. About two months ago I took my 1990 Mustang GT to the shop to get it’s annual inspection. I’ve had the car since I was sixteen. In fact, it was my first car. I am now twenty-six and still baby the car daily. I’ve only managed to put 59K on it in the past ten years only driving it when I think the weather is worthy of hitting the pavement with her. Needless to say, I love the car with a passion.
I was expecting the job to take a day or so and for my mechanic to call me back letting me know it was done. Sure enough he called back, but it wasn’t a call to inform me it had passed inspection. Rather it was to give me some horrible news.
The first words out of my mechanic’s mouth were “when did you come and get your car?”
I laughed and asked, what do you mean? He then said “Are you screwing with me?”
He replied with, “Ah no, it’s not here Ryan.”
It was with this news that I found out that my 1990 Mustang GT 25th Anniversary was stolen. Someone had come into my mechanic’s lot, loaded it onto a flat bed and taken her away. I contacted the insurance company, filled out the paperwork, scanned in my years of receipts showing that this car was in impeccable condition and was on my way to getting an insurance check. Something bothered me however, I felt as if it was out there, and would possibly be found. I put off the final steps of finalizing the insurance claim until a few days ago. The last step was to sign over the title to the insurance company, send it to them and they would send me my check. I had the title in the envelope, signed and stamped, ready to go out with the mail the next day. It seemed like one of the longest walks I had ever taken walking to my mail box, putting the title in and raising the outgoing mail flag on the box. It had taken two months but I had finally gotten over the fact that I was never going to see my Mustang again. Instead, I was handing over the title for under half of what I actually put into the far, you gotta love the “blue book” value. In any event, I went to work that night, did my business and came back late, around 1AM. I was winding down getting ready to go to bed when I saw my cell phone light up. Who could possibly be calling me at this time? Without hesitation I realized it must be important so I picked it up. Seeing an out of state number that was not coming up on caller ID alarmed me but I answered it anyways.
“Hello?” I answered
“Mr. Gruhn?” the man said.
“Yes Sir.”
This is Trooper Dillian with the State Police.
O god I thought to myself, what did I get myself into now?!
“Mr. Gruhn, . . . . we found your car.”
My heart pretty much jumped out of my chest! I sprung to my feet and started drilling him for answers. It turns out that this was a multi-state deal with numerous mustangs that were getting chopped up and sold. I half didn’t want to know but I asked, “is my car okay?” He said that it was intact and actually had a good bit of work done to it; headers, paint, etc. However, it wasn’t in the best shape. He informed me that it will be almost a month until I can even see it again because it has to be booked into evidence, finger printed, etc. On top of that, if I really wanted it I would have to drive down to West Virginia to get it. It took no time at all for me to realize that I will actually be reunited with my first real love. A 1990 Mustang GT that I once laid eyes on and said that I would never let it go. It might sound corny but I had planned on getting this car since it came out in 1990 and I was eight years of age. It was a plan to never let go of her.
Like a best friend that you let down in some way I too feel like I let her down (her name is Lucy by the way). I can already see my first conversation I have with her. She is going to yell at me, show me all of the abuse she has received and I’m going to feel horrible. Heck, I might even shed a teat. I thought to myself, the least I could do is write a few of the TV shows such as Power Block and see if they want to help me make it up to her. I think a simple make over, some new shoes, make-up and potentially a new bra. I don’t know exactly what I’m asking but if you have any projects that Lucy might be able to be used in I think I can live with myself if the crew at Muscle Car or Horse Power took her off my hands and made her new again. I watch your shows religiously and can’t think of a better crew to hand over the keys too. I have yet to see how bad she is but I’m expecting the worse.

I know it's a little off topic, but does anyone remember the Home improvement where Brad get's his 5.0 GT stolen in front of his school? Jenny Mcarthy is the " mustang mechanic". In the end he get's it replaced with a Saleen.

not to jack the thread but i thought i have seen every episode of home improvements until i just read that. i searched an found most of that episode but still havent seen anything about him gettin a saleen. im still searching. as for your car being found, thats sweet. let us know what goes on with it. we need pics an more info!

They don't officially say it's a Saleen, but if you look close at the end, you can see it has Saleen wheels and wing on it. Then again Tim Allen, and Steve Saleen are connected. Maybe Steve hooked them up with a few parts for the show

i hope they use your car to hang the guys that stole her. Im guessing that thats the letter that you sent to the producers of the shows, good luck with the response!
So how's it going to work with the ins. co.? you signed the title over to them, have you recevied the check from them? Are they going to sell it back to you?
We (i say we as in the F.D. that im a member of) had a local tire business that had a large fire in one of the shops, took a bit but we contained it. Problem was there was a 70 cuda that one of the guys who worked there had in one of the other shops adjacent to the burnt one. He had just had the seats and carpet redone and the car was just about cherry. Ins handed him a check for about 20k and refused to sell the car back to him. From what i heard the rep was going to buy it from the Co. and clean the smoke damage himself.

I went right back out to the mail box after talking to the cop and took my title out. I'm lucky because that means I don't have to worry about buying it back. I have a call into the trooper for today so he is going to call me when he gets off his shift!
