I know all about cookie cutter fast cars. We have a GT40P stock cammed car that has been 112 mph and 12.0s, in a stock chassis with 3.55s it went 12.1 @ 110... My E7 stock cammed car has been 109 mph in the 1/4. I'm just saying your "average" HCI car out there is a 106-110 mph car, right there with an SRT. The SRTs get out of the hole better on street tires (from the sounds of it) and only need bolt ons to go a bit faster.

Im only speaking of average cars here. The average guy who buys a TFS HCI kit, gears, exhaust and goes to the track does NOT run 11s...

My point here was the guy asked what it would take to beat an SRT....IMO it would not take that much to run with or beat an SRT but the Mustang will be alot more aggresive then the STOCK SRT is...You can only image with bolt ons what a low 13 second car can do...What im saying here is it doenst take that much to get an SRT in the 11's...I went 12.0 with an CAI ...mufflers an colder t-stat and only a 100 shot...When i up to 125-150 its not going to be hard to get 11's...And i know there are alot of mustangs running 11's but were the other guy said he would race from a roll up to 160 i cant see that you need some steep gears to run 12's-11's in a mustang were my car still retains its top speed its unaffected with the mods i have and it can only go fatser if i sprayed it from a roll...if my car can run just say 170 stock think what it could do if i sprayed it at say 150 mph...Thats the whole reason i bought the SRT Magnum it was different..fast...and still can be driven daily running in the 12's Of course i cant wait to get my Stang in the 11's now thats what im building now and thats what i want to race...:nice:

Im not going to get into an argument with anyone but anyday you want to go from a roll..lets go....

Chill out, man. I never said anything about racing you. Nothing to prove here. Besides, I don't have the old combo anymore. So I couldn't race anyone with it if I wanted to. The current combo is a '91 LX with a Dart 331 and a 76mm turbo. The other car is a vette.

An SRT just isnt fast in the 1/4 my friend they have a top speed of 180 yes i said 180 stock ....and it can do it i can post many many many videos of guys running them..at top speeds...Some from Germany on the autobahn...
Please do so. I just looked up their top speed on a couple of sites, and none of them said they were that fast, but they were just estimates, and I was impressed nonetheless.
You would have to gear your car for some very fast 1/4 speeds to run int he 11's i know i have to install gears on my GT..My SRT stock comes with 3.06's yes thats all they have they dont even make gears for them yet...So not only is it fast in the 1/4 it has good road manners to...They stopping power is awesome 13 inch brake rotors Brembo brakes...its not a run of the mill car they put some time and monely tooling this car to compeat with the big boys....
Very cool cars, and congrats on yours, brother.
Any it i can remember the 1st post stated what would it take to stya with an SRT...that means what MODS..Do You need to STAY with a bone stock 4600 lb car...that already runs low low low 13's to high 12's STOCK!!!!!!
Right... did I miss something or was my HCI example accurate?
so yes we can keep going here but why....Take a bone stock GT and A bone stock SRT and all i can say is bye bye.....no chance...The SRT is an all around car not just bult for the 1/4 miles its actually a family car...lol
agreed, a family car. GT hasn't a chance. Feel better? Cool.:nice:

MY 85 GT: not sure why I was quoted and you gave me your point... I'm pretty sure I was agreeing with you? If you don't think I was, then not sure what to tell you?

FastDriver: I agree, I just try and think more of the average person now. I was told many times I cant use my car, or my brothers, or my dads, or some of my friends cars to compare as they arent the norm, which was the reason I tried tho throw my .02 in there.

I don't think anyones attacking the SRT, and yes it is faster than a new GT. We very much so can tell you love the car you purchased, and thats awesome. Personally I would never own one, I wouldnt even question it, Id be driving an older M5, CTS V, or something along those lines... different strokes, as they say.

I love fast family cars. Im content with 14 second ones, doesnt even need to run 12s.

One quick question though...

I was at the PINKS race in NJ a month or so ago and they had an SRT challenge. They were running GC SRTs and I believe it was Chargers (didnt get a good look) down the 1/8th mile track there. The GCs were going 8.8s, and the Chargers 9.0s... Now a 9.0 is laughable in the 1/8th for the power they make, but thats exactly what they were running. Any reason to this???

Yeah that was a R/T not an SRT from what i heard...The GC's are 5.7 hemis..The SRT jeep is an 6.1...There quick but Heavy...and AWD...i dont have slips in fron of me right now but i know i run fatser then that in the 1/8...And no i was agreeing with you..too before...Im not fighting with anyone here..I love my SRT yes but i do LOVE my stang much more..hehe...I wanted an 85/86 since i was 15 and yes in 1985 i was 15.... so i grew up with the 5.0's love them have much respect for the little motor...And by no means did i want to come off like a jerk...im not...I guess i get carried away sometimes...So sorry to any of you guys that think i did....i didnt mean any dis- respect to anyone.....

My friend at work has an 06 RT magnum witht the small hemi in it. With a flash tune and a cold air kit he went 13.60's @ 106 with 65 degree air. This was at Cecil County Dragway. So I could imagine that an SRT would be quite a bit faster. As for the 180 mph top end .

I wish people would stop comparing every new car to a near stock 5.0. Lets face it they started the whole EFI performance movement, and at the time they were the best thing going. Hell my full weight vert used to run 13.50's at 102 with used bolt ons, short belt, 3:73's and DR's. Ive seen many LX's go low 13's with short belts, full exhaust, gears and sticky tires.

I have this one saved... And that wasnt on a dyno go on you tube see all the runs people have i dont know that car from adam..This one i do its my Friends....This was from last yr..he has gone faster since then too...10.94@129 full weight car with a roll bar...probably weighs in the neigborhood of 4800lbs...The charger he is running runs 11.3's or so....Im still trying to find that charger on the autobahn too...

They are dogs out of the hole, but once they're moving, they are freight trains. I raced a 300C SRT8 with my Neon..at first I was wondering why he was keeping up, then I saw the SRT8 emblem on the trunk lid. Took me until the top of 4th to pull half a car (from a roll).

He was referring to the weight of the vehicle, and he's right if you think about it like a performance car. For reference my GMC Suburban weighs 4900 lbs.

Chris

Oh i thought he meant thumbs down to the car...Yeah its heavy but doesnt seem to have a problem moving...lol....when i drive my Mustang WOW you can feel the difference its like a go-kart.....:D

As for the second comment, I don't care if your station wagon is faster than my stock Vette (which was made in 1985 BTW). If you want to make a fair comparison it WOULD smoke a stock or lightly modded 85 Stang in the 1/4 :nice:.[/QUOTE]

Dude i really dont know what to say on that one.....Those vettes were pretty damn slow it that yr....I Think you need to wake up and smell the coffee...I dont think that vette is beating much...sorry....And as for my Magnum thats your opinion I love the look of my car..Ok im posting a 1/4 data sheet for all chevy cars...take a look MAN YOUR CAR IS SLOW.....LMAO.....an 85 monte carlo SS can smoke you....boy talk about an heavy car .....lol This chart says an 85 vette runs 16.9...man thats flying dude.....didnt even give an mph guess it was too slow:shrug:
