Ya, thats what I was curious about, the intercooler in front of the radiator heating already hot air before it goes thru the stock radiator. I figured it would be alright, I just wanted to make sure that wasnt a known issue. I actually have a 160 stat in there now, but everyone tells me thats not the greatest. Ill swap to a 180 after the cooler, if everything seems good. Thanks for everything so far! And that clears up the post question, makes sense. I like the "talk" section better, seems more fun! LOL! Mikie: not sure what you are asking... are you just telling me 10#'s and no cooler is a bad idea, or u really wanna know how? I can post a pic, lol. Im using the pully that came with it, but I think it is just a series of restrictions upping my PSI. The tune is in the plan..Like I said above, after the cooler install, I'm heading to Sniper Tuning and they are gonna hook me up.

LOL! Nope... thats what I meant earlier in the post, COMPLETELY NPI up top (heads, cam, intake). Its all in the plan, but BEFORE I was even aware of the NPI/PI stuff, I replaced my cracked NPI intake with ANOTHER NPI intake! Ahhh! So i'm not too keen on tossing out a brand new intake manifold to do the PI swap right now...

Hey man,

What I mean is that on my roots type setup, It is not reccomended over 6 lbs of boost without intercooling. I know Centrifs are different, but are scared you are still near detonation with that lb setup. I guess if the car is not experiencing any spark knock or pinging then you may be ok. Just wanted to be sure I was clear, because one of our club members had a Vortech 9 lb and HAD to run the vortech cooler with it.

Discuss?

Also most Vortech kits are only 6-7 psi out of the box without a pully swap. The smaller pullies are only to be used with Ic kits and a different FMU.

Also the IC wont raise the coolant temp at all. It dosent get that hot and it dosent cover the whole rad :nice:

Mickie, ok, I see what your saying now. I believe that it is not reccomended, But it seems to be working out ok. I know it isnt ideal, and thats another reason I'm going to do the intercooler. I'm pretty sure its the stock pully on there, and at full boost my gauge reads ~8-9 psi. When I got my first tune though, the datalogging stuff on the dyno read 10psi. Laser, thanks again for clearing that up, I appreciate it. Im going to order my FMIC today!
