springs / how low before needing cc plates?

Looking to lower my 09 GT. When I put on the Eibach sportlines on my 01 GT, I was so hyped that I forgot to put on the cc plates and those springs ate the crap out of my tires for 3 years (although it was worth it because the drop looked awesome). The stock gap between the wheel well and the tire on the s197's with the 18'' rims is nowhere near as as big as the stock gap on 99-04's so I don't need a drastic drop. I also don't plan on getting cc plates and would like to keep an alignment to save tire wear.

What springs would you guys recommend that would give me around an inch - inch and a quarter drop and not have to worry about cc plates?

I highly recommend the Steeda Sport Springs and Tokico D-Specs. It's by far an amazing ride for a daily driver. I've got my shocks set in the middle and it rides awesome and handles even better. They are by far my best mod so far. :nice:
 
But I know nothing about suspension..like what is the panhard bar...where does it install? haha, I see everyone has it, is it really that important to have?

The panhard bar locates the axle in the center of the car. It attaches to the body on one side and the axle housing on the other (OEM bar is non adjustable). When you lower the rear, it changes the angle of the bar and moves the tire/wheel on the side it attaches to the axle towards the outside of the car. Depending on the amount of drop and width of the tire, it will be noticeable. A relatively inexpensive ($170 or less) and easy DIY mod. An adjustable bar allows you to recenter the axle.
 
No, the PH Bar and Brace go on the rear axle, not the front axle. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on lowering my car, but I'm still doing research on the different options. Don't act too quickly, do your research first. These parts aren't going anywhere anytime soon...:nice:
 
Get an Eibach Pro Kit. Go to an alignment shop, if they can't get it aligned, then get some CC plates.

I recommend getting a set of shocks/struts whenever getting springs. (I Prefer Bilstein HDs)
 
I had the steeda ultralites and then switched to FRPP k springs later because the drop wasn't low enough with the steeda's. The ultralites rode good though, much better than the FRPP springs.

The K springs are the same used on the shelby GT (about 1.5"drop all around). I haven't needed cc plates but I did need an adjustable panhard bar even for the steeda springs.

I would recommend FRPP but make sure you get some Tokico adjustable S/S to go with them.
 
I put the lowest Eibach I could buy for mine, which looks great. It does take away from the ride, but the look and handling is well worth it. But if you are planning on putting a different nose on the car, beware that it might be a little much. The Roush nose is lower than factory and the Shelby nose is even lower. I just put the Shelby nose on mine and I have a little clearance issues.
