Spark pulg gap

Quick question:

Just finished wiring my 351C with a MSD 6 box and coil and a Mallory dist.
Engine will crank but not fire. The gap of the plugs are set to 35, should I re-gap to 42? Will this prevent the engine from firing? We pulled one plug. grounded it
and had a nice spark but I seem to remember bring told to open the gap because
of the elec/ing. Is this correct?

Thanks!

Thanks guys!

The dizzy being off by 180* is what I'm thinking to.

I'll re-gap the plugs to 42 leaving number 1 for last.
When I pull the plug I'll make sure the motor is at Top Dead Center
and reset the distributor and try and fire it. Thanks again, I wanted to
be sure I was on the right track!

Quick update!

I had two problems. First: had a bad fuel pump. Had vacumed the lines to the
carb to get out all the air in them and had only what was between the fuel pump
and the carb.

Second: The Mallory dist spins "counter" clockwise. Set up for normal clockwise
rotation. Pulled all the wire's except number 1 and re-ran them in the correct
firing order counter clockwise. She fired on the first try!!! Purres like a hungry
tiger!!! Thanks!
