so i bought a 03 cobra spoiler yesterday and the guy met up at the local carshow with his cobra and we talked for quite some time, so i asked him for a ride and he said sure, well he is pushing 500rwhp and just stomped on it, i about creamed my shorts for sho, then he added a 75 shot of nitrous as we entered the on ramp of the freeway!!! omg it was the best feeling ever!! so this made up my mind that i am buying a 03/04 cobra by next summer!

just wanted to share my thrill story for this weekend

And thats exactly why i've been wanting one since they came out. I just couldn't afford they insurance payments at 19(when i was able to get one). Thats ok though now when i do get one i'll have a GT and a Slobra. I'll bet that was one hell of a ride.

yeah, when you start getting aroung 500rwhp, thats when it gets fun..... my dad has a 67 dodge with a built 440, ported heads,10.5:1, big cam, lt's, high rise intake, ect, and its a 4 speed with 3:91's in the rear.... that thing can burn all 4 gears, and its a 3800+ pound car:hail2:

well mine has some issues right now :( Last night in the middle of 3rd, car lost all power. Drove fine afterwards, but now anything past 3/4 throttle for about 1-2 seconds causes a HUGE loss in power with it bucking and jerking until I let out. SO this morning it wouldnt crank up and was throwing out alot of smoke on crank up....was idling fine last night when I shut it down too. Changing my plugs now to see what that does. I hope its not something serious like a timing problem....funny I have noticed this week that my gas milage has been BAD....just suddenly dropped this week. Hopefully just crappy plugs.

But when its running its great! :D

Did you go to a different gas station? I remember in SVTP a couple weeks back about a dude with a similar problem after filling up. Turns out there was mod water in their tank. He went back to the place and they had the tanks tore out and replaced. Just something to think about  :(

that blows dude. i hope it all works out for ya. I got my pulley and all in for my car now so ill turn it up to 11lbs and let her run a lil harder. also looking to get meth injection soon too and turn the boost up some more and just see what this 2v can handle lol she pops o well mmr 900 time.

but yea man even if you put a kenne bell on the GT you would crap your pants. I love mine. instant boost is fun. you could always get a built motor and a kenne bell total of like 12 grand and run very very fast with it. thats with the 2.6KB too

I'll take ya for a ride in mine. Make sure you remind me to cover the seats in plastic first before you lose any more body fluids. :)
 :rlaugh: I once heard a person on here say "when I take someone for a first ride in my Mustang I make sure it leaves an impression" :rlaugh: I always lived by that mantra :D

phew....figured it out. Well I threw in the new plugs, and no dice.....cranked up to 100RPM after a decent amount of cranking and somehow idled @ 100RPM for about 10 seconds lol. So the plugs didnt fix the problem.
Well I checked my nifty aeroforce gage and switched it to read fuel pressure....bingo ZERO #s showing....even while cranking. hmmm.

Then it hit me....fuel rail pressure sensor. I pulled the vac hose off....but no gas small like there should be if it broke. But I decided to unplug it anyways....and she fired up after 2 seconds of cranking :D
Makes sense...must have ripped a little hole in it durring the shift when fuel pressure spiked, then getting under boost it would expose a hole in the diaphragm after that and would then think my fuel pressure was too low and thus try to add fuel pressure, causing my rich A/F and pegged fuel pump.

Im just glad I know whats wrong, and that its actually quite common and a simple fix :)

Did you remove the PPRV?

03/04 Cobra's are badass cars, but ride in a Fox body with 500rwhp.... Thats impressive!!! Power to weight ratio FTW!!!

or an early SN with weight reduction and 500rwhp.

Yeah that would be impressive too, but it takes quite a bit of weight reduction to get in Fox territory...

My 91 Notch weighs 2,995lbs & the only weight reduction was aluminum heads, ac delete, & smog pump delete.... Imagine if I took out the rear seat, passenger seat, sound deadening, slicks & skinnys, & installed a fiberglass hood....

My buddies 88 notch only has 360rwhp N/A, & his car runs dead even with 460rwhp Cobras on the street. @ the track, he absolutely murders them...

Dont get me wrong though, 03/04 Cobras are sweet cars, & they ARE fast, but the curb weight & IRS is there downside IMO... One of the quickest ported eaton powered Cobras in my hometown could only manage a best of 11.0 with 500rwhp on motor & a 100 shot on top of that..The guy could drive & the thing too & has a SRA swap....Its the weight that kills it....

Did you remove the PPRV?

Yep a few weeks ago....im thinking thats what led to it.

I had two options.

deal with the huge hesitation between shifts and leave the PPRV in there

or

remove it, and get rid of the hesitation. It also increased fuel system capacity. However you take the chance that the fuel pressure will spike VERY high on shifs....causing problems like this.

solution? $16 Kenne Bell disk :nice: Kenne Bell 99-04 Mustang Fuel Rail Pressure Disc [FRPDISC] - $15.99 : Performance Parts - Ford Mustang - Cobra - Dodge Viper - Chevy Corvette - C6 - LS1
