Fellows which headers should I go with long or short? I eventually just want my 97 gt which is my daily driver to make over 300 hp and 300 to the rear wheels. Hope this is enough info. What's the difference between long tube and shortie headers?

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!! shorties are a waste and ar only worth about 1-3 hp, longtubes are good for about 15+rwhp, to get 300rwhp you will have to pi swap, and maybe P&P the heads, longtubes, stage 1 or 2 cams, and a tune will get you near 300 rwhp

what mods do you currently have?

dont bother with either if your car is stock. Save your money for other mods, heads/cams/pullies/etc. Stock NPI heads/cams don't flow that much air, the gains will not be worth the cost. Put them on when the heads are off, saving you time and money.

I wish I would have NEVER put L/T's on my Cobra. They make the cockpit hot in teh summer time. The coating took about 2 years of summer only driving to wear off and feel the heat inside. Plus you have to pull them off for a trans/clutch repair. I'm highly considering throwing stocker manifolds back on when I do my Cobra's clutch soon.

But L/T's do make more power. Do a PI swap first bro.

Why does it have to be long or short? Haha, I guess i'll be the one to throw in the option of mid length headers from bassani.

I personally am thinking of going with them because of the claim of the same amount of HP increase as long tubes, plus the ease of trans removal. I have the bassani modular mid pipe, so I think the mid lenghts will bolt up to it.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!. Have you ever heard of heat wrap? I didn't even get coated headers and there is no difference in cockpit temps.

Header wrap holds in moisture and the L/T's will rot out. How long have you had them on your car. Mine have been on for 6 or 7 years or about 24,000 miles.

They are coming off soon along with the trans and clutch. I don't know if they are going back on after the trans and clutch are done. I'm sick of paying the labor. I will NOT do those myself.

They both have their pros and cons. I see nothing wrong with shorties I have JBA shorties (got a real GOOD deal on them) on mine and they are very nice...but going LT now. Getting my motor ready for a supercharger.

Shorties are lighter than the cast iron headers, motor will breath better, gives not much- but some horse, don't have to worry about ground clearance, you can still use your stock mid pipes (if you wanted-don't know why lol) and you can still change your clutch without it being such a pain in the fkn a%$.

Long Tubes you will see a greater amount in horse, motor will breath much better, the good ones are EXPENSIVE, ground clearance on some suck, need a matching/short mid pipe, Clutch changing is a pain in the a$#- have to remove one header, and they are pretty much a must with a supercharger.

Just make sure you get -whichever one- coated. Good luck in your decision
