Lowering Springs

The install is easy. The rear can be done in under 30 mins once you do it once or twice.

The front isnt hard, its just more time consuming. You have to remove the brake calipers and pads, hang the calipers out of the way so they arent danling by the brake line. You also have to unbolt the strut from the a-arm which isnt hard, but it allows the arm to drop all the way down so you can pop the spring out.

You will need at least two jack stands and a sturdy floor jack as well as common hand tools.


I am using Roush springs. They are semi-stiff but handle well, not much weight transfer for launches though. FRPP C or B springs are nice, but they drop the front end of the car more than the rear, leaving a rake.

Keep it at or less than 1.3-1.5" or so drop and you shouldnt need caster/camber plates. Each car is different though, but my alignment came out fine without them.
 
Meh, I did the whole car in under 30. Most time consuming process was jacking up the cars and removing the wheels. On the fronts, I just pulled both shock bolts from the knuckle and undid the swaybar link. It lets the lower control arm fall just enough to where you can pry the coils out. If it gives you any trouble, then you can unbolt the caliper from the knuckle for a bit more distance. I just stood on the control arm and pried the base of the spring out. On the rears, you throw a jack under the axle and apply a little pressure, unbolt the shock and the quad, and lower the jack down. Easy as pie!
 
I'm not really sure how far I want to drop it. I'm tired of that 4x4 look. I'm guessing about 1.5 inches would be the most I'd want to lower it. I also want a good ride quality with that. Any suggestion on springs? What else would I need to make it work. I have ahnd tools and a air compressor. I'm looking for a winter project. I'm also looking at wheels to go along with it. Maybe some FR500 or something like that. Thanks. Pearl02.

i have a mix matched pair of springs that i got, i have eibach pro's up front which gives about 1.5" in the front, and in the back i have H&R sport, only about an inch in the back. i personally like a little rake, i want to go 2" in the front and 1.5" or so in the back. i like the eibach's, these h&r's are good but i like the eibachs more. i also just put on some 18" fr500's from latmodelrestoration and love them
 
First of all, let me apologize ahead of time if this has been covered. I've checked several forums, and have not yet found the best springs for the GT convertible. I have a 2004 GT 'vert, and want to lower it 1.5-2''. I wanted to use the Eibach Sportlines, but they say that they are for GT's and V-6 convertibles - doesn't say V-8 'verts. I am also bouncing back & forth between 18" & 20" rims - going with black Shelby Torqs. Any help you guys can give, and pics even, would be really great! Thank you all in advance!!!

Eibach makes some specifically for the vert and there are Ford Motorsport "G" Springs which are for the Vert as well.


I ordered the "G" Springs but was shipped the Eibachs.. They probably are the same springs just different labels.
