I have a 5 speed 95 gt with a D&D 342 stroker with 10.7:1 compression, roush 200 iron heads, holley systemax kit, custom ground comp cam, full exhaust, full MSD ignition, 255 lph pump, 34# injectors, 70mm bbk throttle body, 90mm mass air calibrated for the injectors, denso iridium plugs and 4.10 gears.
the car made 343 hp and 375 ft. lbs. of torque to the wheels with 2.73 gears. it still pings on race fuel too.

car has been dyno tuned twice at mustang magic, they locked timing at 26 degrees, and the pinging won't go away at low rpm under a load. I don't have a standalone tuner yet, I was offered a DFI fms and I'm looking for any input to help figure this out. Turbo people say i need a standalone fuel management system... my wife wants to one day be able to eat dinner every night, so cheaper would be good too.

thanks in advance

If they lower the MBT table it should act as a limiter for the timing under all conditions

That sounds like a very nice combo you have put together :nice:

You need a tune that is on the same level as the rest of the combo :Word:

IMHO ... Stuff like locking the time (mechanical methods)

That Ain't Tuning :nono:

I would advise that you find a method that will give you ......

Maximum Flexibility ... OR ... Total Control ;)

With your ability to adjust your Spark and Fuel :D

PMS ... Tweecer ... SCT ... or something along those lines :)

That way ... Y O U will have total control
NOT ... someone else :bang:

and

You can do a nice tune that is C U S T O M to YOUR specific combo :spot:

Others may disagree, but that is a lot of timing for that CR. The other thing to consider is I have seen cases where switching from Iridium plugs to plain old copper plugs magically makes detonation go away... I'd also put a stock ignition back on it.

I didnt notice the iridium plugs but yes copper plugs one step colder than stock are what I would use , and the Iron heads are less forgiving than aluminum heads with higher compression , I would get a Sniper Commando, SCT pro racer , or Tweecer setup for tuning and adjust the timing and fuel until you get it right , complete standalone is not needed and is overkill for your setup
