i'm trying to decide which one to buy, i'm aiming for 600hp max for now and the new 2.1l big bore is rated at 750hp, but kenne bell doesn't mention at what psi it gets 750hp. What is the max psi on the 2.1l? Anyone have 600hp running the 2.1l big bore?

Also the 2.1L doesn't need a new hood which is 1 reason i'm considering it, but the 2.6l big bore is only $500 more and if i ever wanted more power say 700hp then i could just do a pulley swap. Has anyone tried to fit a 2.6l under the stock hood? Say cut out the underside of the hood scoop for more clearance? Does anyone own this blower?

just get the 2.6 for the extra 500,thats what i say anyway.i did see someone fit it under a stock hood, they just put a 1/4" spacer between where the kmember bolts to the subframe. or you can try and mod the hood

The 2.6 won't fit under the stock hood at all. The cost of the kit is ALOT more than $500 over the 2.1. You will need a fuel system, tune, CAI, and want to swap to an 8 rib setup. The 2.1 is great for a street car around 500rwhp but I think 600rwhp is pushing it on pump gas. Unless you have plenty of money to burn then the 2.1 is plenty for a street car.

Actually its just 500 more than the 2.1 i already have the fuel upgrades, and i would leave it at 6 rib in'till i decided to push it past 600hp. Did it fit under your saleen hood? How do you know that it wont fit under a stock hood with some modifications? i belive if you cut out the whole below the hood scoop this should give plenty of clearance for the supercharger and nose, and if i have to purchase a new hood, then its cool because i've been looking for an excuse to get a cobra r hood, but would prefer to keep mine for now since i had it painted a year ago. I believe the guy above that its possible to fit it with the stock hood, but should require some modification to make it work, just want to see how detailed it will be since, the engine will be removed anyways for the rebuild and i could do what ever is needed at that time.

i noticed you have the 2.6 is that the big bore or regular? the 2.6 is rated to 950hp and the 2.1 is rated for 750hp. This supercharger will be going on a built bottom end, with ported heads and cams, with full exhaust and headers.

what psi are you pushing at your current hp numbers of 615/548?

The KB "rated for" numbers are generally theoretical.. You will never get 750hp out of the 2.1 nor 950 out of the 2.6. The inlet is the restriction on the 2.1. Just look at the difference between the 2.2 and the 2.1. There is only .1 liters difference and people make way more power with the 2.2 and cobra-style inlet.

Also, the 2.6 is a "tuner kit". This means you will need to purchase:

- New Hood
- 8 Rib Pulleys (KB will sell you the kit with a 6 rib on the blower though)
- Injectors
- Fuel System (dual cobra/GT pumps and a BAP)
- Dyno tune
- New intake to fit the cobra style throttle body
- New MAF to fit the intake

Do you have a built motor? If not, then you'll be stuck at 400hp. Anything over 400hp on a stock motor and you're asking for trouble..

Myself, I'm going for the 2.6. I've been slowly piecing together my parts and now the only thing left is the S/C..

It's not the blower itself that is the problem but the location of the IAC on top of the inlet. It will not clear the back of the hood. I went with a 2k cobra R hood.
I am running 17# to hit those #s. KB is rating the blowers on race gas and @ the motor to come up with the #s. Mine is the bigbore H series. It's supposed to be more efficient the more boost you run. One of these days when I upgrade my tranny I will see what it will put out by cranking up the boost. I am guessing it will make around 725-750 at most.
To be honest I had the KB 1.7 before this and was a little over 400rwhp and about 420 TQ. The car was much more fun to drive then. I had no problem hooking my toyos up on the street and it was trouble free. Since upgrading EVERYTHING I have had some sort of issue everytime I turn around and it really hasn't been worth it.

yea man the 2.1 wont hit 600rwhp. I plan to try to hit 600rwhp though with my 2.1 when i build the motor and turn the boost up to 14psi then ill spray a 100 shot and see what happens. if you want 600rwhp pretty easily on pump gas get the 2.6. you would be wasting your time with the 2.1L. although it is still awesome even on 11psi on the street.

if you read the post you would have noticed, that i'm building a built motor now and it'll will go on that. I already have everything else right now so i don't have to purchase anything new, other than cold air intake and what looks like a new hood.

How much did it stick out over the top? i wonder if maybe you could shave some of the hood, or maybe drop the engine some?

You just said that the motor would be out for a rebuild and you didn't give us any specs. I wanted to make sure you knew that you will need a "built" motor.

Sounds like you have everything you already need then.. By all means go for the 2.6..

well i said i was building a built motor. Anyways no biggie. Thanks for the info though one more question. i just noticed it said electric water pump, did the kit come with that or does it require you to go electric? is there anyway to not go electric, i prefer the non electric kind just because i feel safer not having to worry about the water pump not working because of a wire/fuse or something.

what do you think the max hp would be on the 2.1 kit?

I know the 2.6 fits under a stock 03 cobra hood *on a cobra*, but doesn't fit the stock 03 cobra hood *on a GT*.

Mike at Kb said it was due to the way the lower intake was designed. So, I would think that the height of the IAC is significant enough if it won't fit under a terminator hood on the GT.

I have a H.O. Fibertrends 2.5" cowl hood to put on my car when I do the 2.6h.

No worries man..

As far as I know the electric water pump is only needed if you go with the large damper. Once you get that big it interferes with the water pump pulley and you need to go with an electric pump that has a smaller idler on it.

I have the 8 rib kit from Randy Stinchomb and it uses the 8 rib damper from a F-150. It's either 7 or 7.5" and it fits fine.. I think once you get into the 8" dampers you start having issues..
