I am switching my 76 mach1 from power steering to a manual rack. I have a bought a manual rack from the same year at my parts shop. i have noticed that the shaft is a different length and diameter. I have looked through all the threads and everyone says that bought something to extend the steering shaft up to the rag joint but what is that part? i have looked through jegs and summit but i cant find it anywhere? can anybody maybe show me a part number through those place or partsamerica.com that would be great appreciated. thanks

I did mine all you need is the coupler from a manual car. and that cost me 50.00 from e bay. the shaft should be the same length . the housing on the power unit is longer making the shaft look shorter unless I missed something. mine works great,I did it for weight reduction and clearence for my 351

ok I looked at the other thread. that adapter would work instad of buying the coupler from the manual car but does not affect the length. the lengths are the same. buy that part or the one I did and you are set, oh also install new rack bushings while it is apart
