Well, after a year of owning the car and doing nothing but a simple exhaust swap, i figured id see what a mostly stock 01 Cobra would run at the track.
It was a pretty cool night, so that helped out some but the 20mph headwind made it a bit more fun at 100+mph at the end of the track and was a PITA
I ran the car in complete street trim to see what would happen, so on 18's and with the spare and jack in the back. Only thing i did was remove the headlight in front of the filter.

Mods: X-Pipe, SLP Catback, K&N Drop In

This was the first of two runs and the only good run since i wasn't allowed to run without a helmet again (Second run was a 13.40 @ 105.18). I feel like i could easily pull a 13.1 in this car with a few more passes once i get used to the IRS off the line.

60' - 2.102

1/8 - 8.67

1/4 - 13.33

MPH - 105.35

I was shifting the car right at redline and she did bog a tiny bit out of the hole, so i think a 2.0 is easily do-able. I have a set of 4.10's sitting in the garage to hopefully shoot for 12's with just exhaust and gears.

Any suggestions and comments welcome.

great times!

Crazy MPH's coming out of HRP and southern tracks this week. The DA's have been insane the last 2 weeks.

laserstang21 posted 104mph with just an h pipe and mufflers on his GT with the same 60ft this week. Not just mustangs running these mph's, I've seen it on other car forums too.

HoustonGT, my suggestion would be to continue hitting the track while the weather is good. You can cut 2-3mph off that after the end of feb. when it starts warming back up. You probably won't see 12's unless you get a serious tire back there. Good luck and keep us updated!

I was actually amazed at the amount of crappy drivers out at the track despite the good weather. Everytime i head out there, i laugh.
IE: a G37s running 15.8's and i saw about 4-5 modded 05+ GT's consistently in the low 14's all night. No Joke, i was tempted to throw them out and jump in the cars myself. Best of the night was the retard in a black C6 Z06 who ran a a 25.xx after spending about a minute at the tree trying to stage.

You right though, i dont think this car will see a 12 second run the way it sits. The MPH is close, but im not willing to throw a sticky tire on there with the IRS being 100% stock. Maybe after replacing all the bushings, a diff brace, and a few other upgrades to the rear i'll try a DR, but im satisfied with about a 2.0 60' on street tires and 18's.

Nice times. 99 and 01 Cobras should be capable of high 13's all day long in any weather in stock trim so with the mods and great weather that's pretty good. A little higher RPM on the launch and 12's won't be an issue.

How have things been Mike? :nice:

As for the times--great job and the car seems to run really well especially for the mods. The wind has died down quite a bit so make another attempt at it ;)

Glad the winds died down after that crazy night lol. They were cleaning debris off the track every half hour and the lines were going extremely slow.
Ill be making another attempt in a week or two i think and hopefully have a helmet, just busy this weekend
