major shifer vibration

I just got my new 347 in and ever since I put it in I have had a major vibration in my shifter I notice it the most when I am getting on it at high rpms the motor is balanced and it runs great but this vibration was not there before I put the new motor in I dont realy feel it when i am stoped and in netural and i rev the motor.When I get at high speeds and it starts vibrating real bad I can push the clutch in and it still continues to vibrate.

Well when I did my 347 stroker with the stock t5 tranny I ended up blowing it apart. Before I did the build the tranny was good so my guess would be that the hp that the 347 was putting out was a little to much for the tranny. That’s when I put a ford racing auto tranny in and I haven’t had a prob cense. just somethin you might want to think about.
 
Ok try this .drive till viberation starts than dont touch and put in neutral and come to stop when stopped bring rpms up slowly to 3000rpms than feel 4 vib .i was a driveshaft specialist and using driveshaft balancer have found thats a perfect speed for most parts .my thought here is play in pilot bearing.
 
Sounds like the drive shaft is out 180 degrees. Unbolt it turn it 180 and rebolt it or the drive shaft is loose.

I have a friend who accidentally used the wrong balancer for the flywheel he was using and it caused this issue. Or if you're using old motor mounts one of those could be bad, or even the cross member mounts or trany mount. I don't think i've ever heard of a trany vibrating just because an engine makes more power...i've seen quite a few 10 second T5 cars so i don't think that'd be it.
 
You can turn your shaft all day shaft is balanced with trans yoke and flange yoke on rear. Your pinion yoke is part of rear and is not balanced with shaft .if he did not remove trans to do engine and it sat awhile a ujoint could freeze and cause vib.tires too. When he is not moving and can get vib back it is not driveshaft. But when sitting still in gear with foot pushing clutch inputshaft stops spinning right?. When just neutral no clutch input shaft spins .yes ? Trying both while sitting still might not allow input shaft viberate when driving than stopping might make change?
 
On the rear driveshaft flange it has a round lip and pinion flange has a round groove. That circle is what centers the rear half of driveshaft and the bolts only hold it tight. 8 holes are in pinion flange to use in other applications.the front half of shaft is centered by transmission out put shaft .on a 2 piece shaft that can be install more than oneway can be turned 180 deg. Caution a driveshaft is balanced as an assembly any changes to shaft will change balance. If on a one piece shaft with a viberation and i only unbolted the shaft turned 180 than it went away that would be the problem.it should stay the same. It is another step in how to diagnostic a viberation and help pin point vib
 
If you still have a problem ? Fwiw go over everything you did than try to isolate your vib.you said in stick. Any thing else like in your seat?windows when up? Dash board? More in front of car middle? At high speed is it worse ? If you hold stick tight what changes? Start with that

i jacked up the rear end today and went through the gears and the vibration was there so i pulled the drive shaft out and went through the gears and it was gone and i put new wheels and tires on it so the vibration is either the drive shaft or the rear end.not shure witch one.just glad its not the new motor :nice:
 
Sounds like you still have vib.i need more info.did you do the install? You said it wasnt thier before?engine change?same engine rebuilt?was trans pulled ?any mounts changed?how you did that was not proper.running with out shaft you took off force on trans. A mount change can change your driveshaft angle which will be hard on acceleration . Fill me in with more this should be easy to fix
 
I have heard some shiftter vibration may be due to the shifter housing is contacting the transmission ( where it bolts togehter ).
Usually you silicone this when installing a new shifter or replacing it, but Either it needs to be re-sealed or you may need to neutralize your transmission and motor mounts. Common problem when dissasmbling, nothing major.
If that doesn't do it, you might be F*@#ED.

How long was the car down for the engine swap? I've seen universals sieze up enough to cause vibration. It's not uncommon for the stock shafts to just get out of balance for no apparent reason either, so it may just be coincidence that it happened after an engine swap. You may wanna look into buying an aluminum shaft...that'll almost definitely fix whatever problem you have and save you from wasting time hunting for the problem.
