4 banger to v8 selling problems?

It depends what state your in. . I'm in MA theres no more emissions for 94 and older...Most states have the sniffer and regardless you have to pass anyways....thats what im sayin with the vin #...how do computers not match the vin with the motor..after all the years as testing as a stock car

When MI had emmisions it was stupid. Only had to take a car 6 years old or newer. If it was 7 years or older you did not have to go. And if the cost of fixing the car was a certain percentage of the cars worth, you didn't have to fix it....lol....if that makes any sense.

Again on the swap....They may not be worth as much as a true V8 car in some peoples eyes....but there is always someone out there who can see what you've done and respects it. They will be willing to pay whatever to get a clean nice running V8 car. one guy told me he didn't care if mine was a 4cyl because even original V8 cars sometimes have non-original V8's in there, or they're carb'd or have some sort of conversion done to them.

Do the car the way you want it, don't listen to any negative comments about a 4cyl car.

I'LL START A NEW THREAD...POLL OF WHOS CAR IS ORIGINAL V8 AND WHOS IS A SWAP.

i could care less if a car is a 4 cyl conversion or not. i did one, i KNOW i did it the right way, same as 1990coupe and svt32vdohc, using a donor car and swapping EVERYTHING over. we all know these cars well enough to be able to differentiate between a well built car and a hack job. so why does it matter? would you walk away from a car just because it had a 351 or 460 swap?

It depends on what your looking for. Some people want an all original mustang, that has not been touched. While others are looking for a modified street car. Like I said above, I am doing a 4 cyl conversion, the reason is because I got my car for basically nothing. the body is super clean. I plan on changing everything. In my eyes there is nothing wrong with this swap because everything will be done. I am starting with a nice straight and clean chassis, and its going to be a modified street car. When I'm done I will proabably have close to 15k invested. It is a lot to invest in a car, and I know I will never get my money 100% back. But its what I want to do, and I plan on keeping the car for a long time....(Well until I get my IROC-Z project car) :D

This can pretty much be summed up by what i've said 100 times on here. Worth is what someone is willing to pay. A car that's modded out right will get just as much money no matter what it was originally, as long as everything is done right. A conversion car is only going to matter if it's a butchered job or if someone wants something with collector possibilities, and these cars just aren't old enough for that yet.

If done right, i think it can be better than a factory V8 car. At least with a 4 cylinder car you know it hasn't been beat very bad and the chassis has a lot less wear and flex on it than a V8 car would, especially the torque boxes. "Done right" is a huge part of it. The only major major downfall is for people who have to pass emissions and would look down on it because it's technically an illegal engine swap, even if you go with all the emissions crap.

I agree, when I was looking for my coupe, I mainly just looked at 4 cyl cars, because I knew they had'nt been beaten up on!

Personal preference: factory V8

If there were two identical cars right down to color/condition/mileage and one is a swap and the other is factory I think most of us would pick the factory V8 car.

Now if you can score a deal on a swap done right that's within your budget...that's a different story....
