DECENT TIRES FOR CHEAP

Nangkook Tires, General, or what? I need some new tires for my stang. What are some good tires for a reasonable price. What would you guys recommend? Tires size would be 245-25-17. Also whats the largest tire you can fit on a stock GT 17x8 rim. All responses will be appreciated.

Nitto 555s are excellent tires and are quite cheap. I love mine.

Cheap. Sumitomo Htrz's. Get the originals for like 66 a tire plus 10 shipping. U can get the HTRZ 2's for like 80 or so and its a much better looking tire. Decent tread wear and I was able to pull 1.9 60's in a 4.30 geared 04.

dont you mean 245/45/17? this is the stock size. i have been looking at the new goodyear all season tire as a "winter" tire cause they are only 117 each, but i am just going to get some Blizzak's.

as far as tire width, you CAN put 275/40/17's on the rim but it has way too much buldge IMO. i would put 255/45/17's on because i think that looks best on a stock wheel.

I put 245/45/17 's up front and Kumho Ecsta's 275's in the back on my stock 17 x 8 rims. I didn't care about rotating, so I went that route. No roll in the ecsta's at all. Was fine.

I'm putting in my vote for General Exclaim UHP's. I bought the 245/45/17's for $86/tire (front tires only) and so far they have worn VERY well even after autocrossing and some hard laps around an oval track.

I havn't used them on the rear end, but they grip well up front.

I have the cheap sumoto htrz $66/tire from tirerack.com and they are OK. They don't grip as well as better tires in the summer time. But now in the winter, they grip just as well as the summer time. I had some BF Goodrich KDW2 and they gripped great in the summer. But the KDW2's sucked in the winter.

Im picking up these Sunny N3800 tires. They are basically Toyo Proxies just made by another company. Im getting a screamin deal on them. The tires are made by Nangkang

you can go 275's on a stock rim. I did. Problem was I could never get them to wear evenly, because they are the wrong size. With the right PSI they would wear on the outside and cup pretty bad. Then I would overinflate them to try to get the middle to wear a little more and they would make a lot of noise at certain MPH. I used to be all for running the 275's because I liked the tire bulge and figured it would help with traction but now I tend to put the correct size on the rims. I now have 9" rims all around and run 275's and it's much better. I'm not saying don't do it, just giving you my .02

They went down to a 245 in 1996 for some reason.
