I know I will get flamed but I need help with a couple of items with my Shaker 500 in my 08 GT/CS. I did a search and couldn't find the answers and I looked in the owners manual a few times.
Question #1
I have a cable that is in my console that plugs in to an electrical device. This weekend at a car show a friend of mine plugged it into his IPOD brand MP3 player or whatever. The screen on the IPOD displayed the FORD blue oval and had the message "OK To Dissconnect Now". We tried to get the radio to play the songs he had loaded but had no such luck. Is this cable just to charge the IPOD or will it play the songs through this cable aswell? Someone told us that I would probably need to hook up the cable that goes to the Aux port in the console also in order to get sound. A friend of mine was parked right next to me and his car does not have the cable in the console and the cars are identicle other than mine being an Auto and his a 5spd. His was built 4mos before mine.
Question #2
When I push the Phone button on the radio it displays "No Phone" on the radio. Does this meen the radio is Bluetooth equipped or do I need to add something else. My friend with the identicle car doesn't do this either. His just mutes the radio where mine does not.
Any help would be appreciatted. I am a tard when it comes to modern electronics.

For your first question, are you using a standard audio cable? I have used my ipod in my car many times pluging an audio cable into the plug in the console, just make sure you are using a cable that plugs into the headphone jack and not an ipod cable that plugs into the bottom. That basically turns your speakers into a large set of headphones and will not charge the ipod. As far as you second question, my radio does the same as yours. To my knowledge this if for blue tooth but you need a blue tooth adapter to make it work.

Ford does not supply the cable. You must buy it yourself. Plug an audio cable into the headphone jack of the ipod and plug that into the auxilary input in the console. You can get an adapter to plug into the bottom of the ipod and into the 12 volt outlet to also charge it. You control playback through the ipod. Not real convenient if you are driving.
Best, though, to get rid of the Shaker 500 and get a head unit that will completely control the ipod through the unit itself. That's my opinion.

I got an IPOD NANO for Christmas. The cable that my car came with will control the Ipod with the Shaker 500. When the Ipod is plugged into the car a Ford emblem is on the screen and the controls on the Ipod don't work. I have to control the Ipod with the radio.

Posted via Mobile Device Thats weird...my cs came with no such cable. I had to buy an audio cable for my mp3 which plugs into the port in the center console and I have no control with the radio.

None of my friends with the same car have them either. I can't find anything on the window sticker or owners manual about it either. I know it's not dealer installed because the car just come off the truck and was still in the pile to be dealer prepped when I bought it.

There is a basic and advanced triptunes.
I actually was going to try it on my Shaker 500 before installing another head unit.
Ford could tell me nothing about it. No web site at the time could either.
My local stereo guy thought it would not allow control of the ipod from the headunit but said he would have to actually install it first to be certain.
I thus elected not to install it. The thing is also as expensive as another head unit.
Hopefully the new sync system in the 2010 will work with an ipod with no problem. My daughter has sync in her Focus and it works great with the ipod except her plug in is on the dash rather than hidden in the console.
Anyone know where the plug is on the 2010?
