Can you swing heads and cam's? Or just Cams?

Cams are awesome and along with your headers would make your car sound great! Guys are seeing some pretty decent gains from them as well.

yeah i wanna do cams, gonna wait for my tax returns to do them, looking at either the Thumpers or Hot rods, not sure yet..... Anything else i could do powerwise other than a blower or gas? id like to get around or close to 400hp out of the motor. (flywheel not rwhp)

With Cam's you will be close to that. There is always Forced Inductions hot sister we call Nitrous... :D Otherwise heads are about it. Unless you want to count the C&L intake which even tuners have now and its STILL not being sold yet. Or a few custom intakes out there which are like $1200 plus depending on who you get it from.

Ive seend the big bore fuel rail kit, gt5oo throttle body, and delete plates? any info on those products? Any real performance gains to be had out of them?

Delete plates are debatable because they will take some of your low end away for a not very big peak gain. You don't need a GT500 TB because it is likely you won't make hardly anymore power and it will be a headache to tune. Why would you need a fuel rail when ours supports upwards of 500 RWHP depending on the delivery setup (IE. Pumps, injectors, lines. Etc.).

yeah your right just tryna throw all options out there and every bolton i can possibly do, thinking about going with the delete plates, cant hurt even if it only gives me a few more ponies, my gears should take care of what little bottom end i would lose. would i be better off going with the billet or factory castings with removed butterflies?

yeah i had bad luck with nitrous in the past, i know it can be done RIGHT but with the money you spend to do it safely you might as well get a seta heads P&P or even a blower

think ill go ahead and order the delete plates and go ahead and try them outm now if i could only figure out which cams to get!? id really like to keep my factory springs and retainers so im limited to thumpers, hot rods, or comp stage 2's............ i know the stage 2 would make more power but the other 2 just sound  .... cant figure out which would be better

Yeah. Its easy to set it up right but is just as easy to do it wrong.

That beside. If your going to get delete plates get billet/race style ones because they are more closley matched to the intake ports. Although they are more expensive. If you are handy enough you would probably would be fine with removing the butterflies.

If its sound your about then the Hot Rod cams most definetly. You can also do Phaser Limiters if you wanted to do that instead of locking them out totally. That way you get the best of both worlds.

But yeah. If you ask me, if your not doing cams that require springs then get the FRPP Hot Rod cams. They sound AWESOME.

yeah wish i could have the power and the sound but cant have your cake and eat it to. What kinda differences in power would i see with the hot rods compared to the comp stage 2's?

From a few dyno sheets I've seen and fairly accurate tails from Comp Cam's , the Stage II VSR (Valve Springs Required) it is said about 20 throughout (Under the curve) and 50 peak. The Hot Rod Cam's guys with stock heads are usually seeing somewhere around 10 throughout (Under the curve) except for down real low, you loose a very little amount of low end. Then anywhere from 35-45hp peak depending on the dyno and the tuner.

I think most people will agree. The estimate on the Hot Rod cam's is probably a little high. Maybe even both for that matter. Either way the Hot Rod cam's don't JUST add sound. You will get power too. Just not quite as much.

The Stage II NSR Comp Cams have very similar gains to the hot rod cams with maybe a little more down low.

yeah too bad we cant get the sound from the hot rods and performance out of the comps huh? thats a hard decision, think i may lean towards the stage 2's as much as i would love the sound i think i would enjoy the power gains from the stage 2's more :nice: well damn, now im outta mods to do besides gas or blower.... ill be ordering the cams and delete plates within the next 2-3 weeks n let you know how they work out. by then ill will be on hear needing traction solving mods :rlaugh:

In ptfoxbdy89's new thread about his new dyno numbers Chad9350 states he gained 82hp with VSR Stage II cams and P&P'd . I'd say heads and cams are very worth the money.

Its never a bad idea to set your car up to put all the power to the ground. Doing that myself in the next couple of weeks. Swapping out almost all my stock suspension for some fancy red parts with three letters on them....... BMR anyone? :D

lol man you must not have any kids or a wife lol the mustang parts section of your check is bigger then most of my friends ;) lol you can put down 400+ easily with this set up assuming you have a manual tranny!! brenspeed, american muscle, latemodelmustangresto, and some others will all have these parts ( im assuming were coming up from stock i know you already have some of this stuff) : Jlt or C&L Cold air intake, cmcv delete plates, underdrive pullies, gt 500 throttle body or stock don't use the others they are crap, long tube headers, offroad x pipe if its legal in your neck of the woods if not use highflow magnaflow cats, frrp cams;), livernoise stage 2 heads no bigger for a daily driver, assuming you have a 5 speed.. a nice clutch set up a fidanza flywheel, a one piece driveshaft with safety loop, and a nice set of gears with the cams a 3.73 or 4.10 would mess well with the cams, and last is a nice tuner for all of the mods above but if your staying bolt ons a sct xcal 3 would be fine if you plan on going turbo or supercharged get an sct livewire it will give you better options in the end... all of this stuff with a good 'Conservative" tune will get you around 400 ish to the wheels man.. but remember hp doesn't get you off the line.. the toque does ;) and please don't get the car tuned for all out horsepower numbers and run your air fuel all over the place ;) good luck man send me some pms and stuff with numbers and pics and whatnot i love seeing builds on our cars lol im broke so i don't get to tinker much!!
