Why would the ladt swap a 4-banger out for an I-6? It would require a k-member change.

If you want a V8, you need to swap k-members.


WHat's the VIN? You sure it was an original 4-popper?

im going to get flamed for this but...
get a stock longbock efi 302 pre-93,cobra motor,exploder engine and change camshaft and etc, and juice the gonads out of it. you can breach well over 300whp on the juice for under 1k this way if you find a used fox motor and buy a decent nos kit for 500 each:shrug: can you really beat that?

if i were to start fresh, i would just have got gears and juice and be done with it? that way i had a 13 second car on spray and fun quick driver on the street still holding itws own. that if i wrecked i wouldnt cry like i would now if i wreck my 88 which has tons of work into it..ok ill :Zip2:
 
i thought the 79's and alike were ugly 4 eyes. 85 and alike were better.

My taste is as follows

from ugliest to best looking 4-eye

5. 79-82 standard nose
4. 83 all models
3. 84 non-GT (no fogs)
2. 84 GT/85-86 GT (different but equally nice IMO)
1. 79 PC/80-81 Cobra/82 GT

However if you parked a 1980 2.3/Auto notch next to a 90 2.3/Auto notch, I'd take the 80. 4-eyes FTW!
 
i gotta get rid of my 79. it sux so bad cuz my sway bar where it attaches to the frame rotted through

The frame is rotted through where the swaybar attaches? Is it just that one spot or is more of the subframe rotted, too? Don't give up on it yet - that's fixable depending on how bad it all is.

Just don't junk it. Someone with the right resources and ambition can save the car. Sell it if you decide you need to, but don't junk it!
