I'm doing the "how much power can a stock shortblock handle" thought process since I have begun looking at getting a KB in the next few years. My question is, the '99-'04 S-281's with the Saleen blower were rated at around 450 hp right? They didn't touch the motors on those did they? Or did they swap the rods out? What kind of boost numbers what that with usually? I really should know this stuff, but I needed to ask. Thanks! :nice:

saleen blowers RARELY break 35--370 to the wheels even with swapped pullies and other supporting mods. they were FAR from 450. the blowers are not very efficient.

they have the same bottom end as every other 2V. the SAFE limit is around 425 rwhp.

The cars made 285hp/320tq stock.

Like SaleenGT said the blowers were very weak.

Do you own a Saleen from you avatar it doesn't look like a Saleen?

Nah...no Saleen here. I'm just doing more research than is necessary on how much power the stock bottom end can handle. I figured a good place to start would be a "factory warranty" covered vehicle like the supercharged S-281 since it has the stock GT motor in it. I figured the bottom end could hold at least how much the S-281 put out rwhp wise since its covered by a warranty still. I know...I'm weird. When I ever do it...I'll keep it tuned to 375-380 or so with the KB. :nice:

I knew it was 450 rated from Saleen at the crank, but I was curious about any internal upgrades that were done to it to support that (if at all) Which now I know nothing was done to the motor.

The cars were not rated at 450hp at the crank. THe numbers I posted earlier are what they were rated at. The Saleen E was rated at 425hp at the crank but that was with a built motor.
