When does the boost come on? 3.5k rpms? The reason i ask is right now i have a eaton m90 on my car and going to buy either the tork tech kit or a vortech as a replacement to make more power. Right now i get near full boost by 2.5krpm and i know the tork tech unit will be the same, biut i wanted to know how soon the vortech comes on and if people like there units. With 3.73 gears on a manual i would think that the vortech wouldnt be so bad since i can get up through the rpms pretty fast.

Here are my 3 question

1)When does the boost start and when does it hit full boost?

2) is there a way we could setup the vortech with 20psi pulley and throw a waste gate on it to be able to ajust the psi more easily than a pulley swap? Plus this should make the supercharger act more like a turbo right?

3) for 550+hp would a centrifugal be better than the roots type? since you would be pushing alot of boost you would have decent power in the lower rpms with a centrifual because of the high power, or am i wrong?

tork tech will be faster out of the line , vortech will pull harder up top .....granted everything else is the same , boost pressure etc.........on a side note tork tech will probably spin easier making it a tricking launch , fun , but in the end the vortech will probably win out the race if the drivers are of equal talent ..........IMO.......I have a vortech GT and I have taken down a roush stage 3 that was pulled and dynoed within 5 rwhp of my car , him 381 , me 385 ........he would get me by a half car in first gear from a roll or dead stop , id about a car on him at 100mph ... raced him several times , always same results ........

1) It depends on what size pulley you have. I have a 2.75 (15psi) on a T-Trim makes 12psi almost instantly and hits 15psi at 6k.

2) I'm sure you could but you would have to run a blow through MAF. I don't know why you would want to do that though.

3) My car is making low 500s through an auto and even most people say I'm making more than that. My setup would put you well over 550rwhp going through a manual.

I love my Votech. Sometimes I wish I had a PD blower but honestly my car is violent enough with my stall and I would hate to think how bad it would be with a KB. My car can spin the tires from a low speed roll up to around 60-70mph with MT DRs. With street tires on it was roasting them shifting to 3rd at 90mph which was a little scary.

At what rpm did you start hitting boost, and what rpm did you hit 12psi? I'm looking at the vortech v2-sq and its rated for 680hp would i be fine running 550hp of it? Why did you go to the T trim only to run 500hp shouldnt the S trim be fine?

I would say I hit 12psi at 2500rpm. It hits 12psi fast, like I said about as soon as I go WOT its at 12psi. My tuner even said it was crazy how fasy my car gets into boost. He said the car jumped on the dyno like a nitrous car does.

I went to a T-Trim because I didn't want to over spin the blower. Plus my car is a stalled auto so my car is going to make lower numbers than a manual. I don't know if you are talking rwhp but its not easy to make 600rwhp with an S-Trim. It takes basically every bolton, cams, heads, and a small SC pulley, and then some.

If you look at jivepeppers mod list on this site you will see what all he has done and made just under 600rwhp.

Those are great numbers for a S-Trim but it will be hard to make much more than that without adding nitrous or upgrading the blower.

Thanks you have helped me with alot of info, I'm going to do a rebuild here soon and I'm aiming for at least 500/500 so the S trim should get me there fine. The other question is I'm going to buy all my parts from MMR and they have a full kit for $1699 that supports 900hp is that 900 crank hp or fly wheel? Lastly how much hp do you think the stock crank can candle? I'm just wondering if i should buy the kit or just buy the parts. Thanks again!

I found this kit online, looks very good as its all manley products, what do you think? What choice of compression would you choose?

If you dont plan on ever pushing your hp past 600rwhp then I would just go with forged pistons and rods and call it a day. MMR rates all there stuff to the wheels. You can also get a 600hp SB from them for 2249 right now.

The s-trim will get you there but you will almost be at the rpm limit of the blower. The s-trims have actually been canceled and all kits are now sold with the si-trim blower witch will make more hp then a standard s-trim they are rated at 750hp I think. I would make sure you get a si-trim or if you find a screaming deal on a s-trim you can upgrade for around $400

And that ebay piston and rod kit is kind of a rip if you ask me. you could get something similar for less if you look around. I recomend you take a look at mmr's site and maybe summit.

I have an S-Trim that we are just finishing an upgrade with. With stock heads, the best we did was around 410rwhp or so with 92 octane fuel. However, if you plan on going to 500, you are going to need more fues system. With about 14lbs of boost, Livernois head and cam, I'm seeing 500rwhp at 5000 rpms now. Just having some fuel issues that need to be worked out before we can push it farther and I'm running a return system. The blower starts kicking in at 2700 rpm's or so. We expect to see 550 on 92 octane and 600 with 100+ octane. However, I may have to upgrade to a T-Trim or higher pretty soon. Either that or turbos.

where did you get the upgrade price? this is the first i've heard about the new blowers and am interested.

Well there are a couple of ways to go when you are ready to do the motor. You can buy a forged shortblock, MMR and MPH are the two favorites around here and the prices aren't bad. The other option is just buy a rotating assembly kit from MPH or MMR and install all the internals your self. I looked at both ways and figured by the time I took the block to a machine shop and everything else I might as well spend the little extra and buy a shortblock.

The forged crank is up to you, the stocker is good for 1000hp I think so it not needed but its not going to hurt either.

My VT engine is good for 750-800rwhp and I don't plan on pushing that but always give yourself room to grow. If you want 500-600 buy something thats good for 700+.

Your next step is to start looking into a fuel system. Depending on how far you go a Cobra tank and pumps wouldn't be a bad idea.

Are you talking about upgrading a S-Trim to an Si-Trim for 400? If so you might as well upgrade to a T-Trim for $100 more. :nice:

damn my blower is all crazy , I have a novi2000 and with a 3.2 pulley im seing 4lbs of boost at3500 rpms ... maybe because the tune is only good for 4k rpms and clutch was slipping bad ar 4k rpoms , I guess thats when it was hitting boost or something ... my buddie just told me he look up my blower and its a renigade? ( damn I think i spelled that wrong lol) kit .. that the blower its a top end blower god to make boost from 4k-8k rpms .. thats y im only seing 4lbs of boost at 4k rpms and clutch was slipping at 4k rps on the dyno cause thats when the boost was coming in .. any advise or in put on whats happening with my car .. also I have a blow trew set up , any one know of somehow having the BOV wrong or can loost boost by putting itwrong? or going bad?

So does the blower mount on the drivers side? That is what a renegade kit is. It allows the discharge tube to come straight out instead of having a 90* bend. I also has a stronger components and a more agressive impellar. You also wouldn't have AC or power stearing.

Here is what it would look like:

As for the car making low boost it could be numerous things. The BOV could be leaking boost out, or maybe the bearings in the blower are going bad. Have you had the car on the dyno? Is it really rich at WOT?

ok well its not like that lol I didnt know what renegade kit ment lol .. well the bov sounds like its blowing off while im driving lol .... here is a little vid maybe ucan here the little ticking while im going back thats the bov thats the way it sounds while im driving also .. so I might be loosing boost then if the bov is leaking boost ? How is that? how can I fix that ? and yes had it on the dyno but didnt really pay attention on that stuff , the car was having a problem idleing alot I think also I might be running out of fuel ...

Thanks, i actually did look at MMR site first, but i was thinking that if i didnt need a crank i could skip that. As for the cost to install, i have a friend doing that and machine work for $600.

The t-trim upgrade is a little more then $100. here is the link Supercharger upgrades... - ModularFords.com. it lists out the prices. One downside to upgrading a s-trim to a t is that the housing cant except HD bearings and you are still limited to 52000rpm so you cant get the max performance out of it.

And I was wrong about the price to uprade to a si trim, its only 329 and the t is 617.

Wow i didnt know this. Would a used v2-SQ be worth 2k? The reason i ask is i have a friend selling one but he wants 2k for it, and it seems kinda high for a non intercooled kit since its also outdated now. Or this this still a deal i should jump on?

sounds like an exhaust leak or a lifter....
