I have a 96 Cobra convertible with very few miles (1800 miles) and I will be purchasing a FRPP 4.10 gear kit within the next few days. With the car having so few miles, do I need to purchase an entirely new installation kit or are there only certain parts that I need to get? I was considering only purchasing a pinion seal, crush sleeve and pinion nut. Is this all I need or should I buy other items?

I of course will be getting the ring/pinion, SpeedCal and fluid with the kit I am contemplating purchasing from American Muscle.

Also, last question......Should I buy new upper and lower control arms since I will be under the car? Do I need both or should I go upper and not lower or vice versa?

Thanks for any assistance and direction you all can offer!!

If its not a track car the upper control arms wont help. I would only replace them if the bushings are dry rotted (prolly are). Lower controll arms help big time to battle wheel hop on these cars. You have quite a selection to choose from and the choice is yours. Cant go wrong with MM and I really like the Steeda aluminum ones myself :nice:

As far as the gear swap you should get the whole kit (LMR has them) that includes all seals and shims and the grear fluid plus the friction modifier :nice:

Edit: If you dont already have them then get a set of full length sub-frame connectors. I could not believe the difference when I installed them on my 96 Cobra.
I bought the HPM ones that are specific for the 96-98 Cobras and they were only $80 at LMR :nice:

Thanks for responding LaserSVT. Crazy thing now is that I cannot find a transmission shop in Northwest Indiana that wants to install the gear. Either no experience or over a grand for installation with parts. Eek!!!

Lower control arms for sure and I was thinking sub frame connectors once I put the supercharger on it.:nice:
